Job Position: Electrical Design Engineer

Job Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

• Electrical Design Engineer with the design of grid-based electrical system like solar, integrate renewable energy, power distribution and regulate smart grid, cabling, communication, power quality reporting, supply pattern reporting, bill estimation, system calculations and drawing preparation.

Job Duties

• Monitors work for compliance with approved design standards and to provide for efficient and quality design, reliable plant operation and economy.
• Plans, Schedules, conducts and co-ordinates with minimal supervision.
• Receives technical guidance from Group Leader, Design Supervisor or Electrical specialists only on unusual or complex problems,
• Supervises and prepares design and drafting procedures to standardize the design effort.
• Reviews and defines engineering scope changes as required.
• Endorses or prepares reports for work progress for project discipline use.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of computer applications to design work and promotes maximum and efficient use of computers.
• Assists less experienced personnel in the performance of their assigned tasks.
• Maintains project Contract review, KPI, Change Tracking, Schedule Tracking, Productivity and dashboard reporting, Value Engineering, Lesson Learnt etc.
• Review design documents, Subcontractors/ Vendor documents for technical compliance.
• Performs technical audits as and when required.
• Prepares, reviews or monitors project controls, cost estimates, quantity take offs and manpower requirement.
• Ensures direct Grid power connection from the DisCo Grid lines to the Site (new and existing Site).
• Ensures a comprehensive TSS on all Sites before final selection or identification of Sites to be retrofitted or revamped.
• The Engineer shall ensure that all cable management within the Site perimeter are reinforced armoured type that can withstand mechanical impact and designed to be buried underground.
• Maintains a good working relationship with the staff to ensure that all factors that could affect Grid supply to the Site are promptly and proactively dealt with.
• Adhere to the health, safety, social (local community), security and environment requirements.

Requirements

• BSc, BTech / HND or M.Sc. (or its equivalent) in Electrical Engineering from a reputable and accredited higher institution of learning.
• Minimum of 5 years post NYSC experience working in same capacity and industry
• Must be a registered member of COREN & NSE.
• Candidate must have expertise in AutoCAD and Revit as an added advantage
• NERC or REA certification is an added advantage
• High tension/power grid connection will be an added advantage.
