Being a key player in the Logistics and Supply Chain industry, our client has an array of services that include; End-to-End Supply Chain Management, 3rd Party Logistics, Freight Forwarding, Haulage, Local Clearing, Warehousing, and Project Logistics across cities in Nigeria.

Job Position: Finance and Accounting Officer
Job Location: Lagos
Reports to: Finance Consultant
Job Summary
- The finance and Accounting Officer is responsible for handling an array of accounting and finance duties such as general bookkeeping, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- This position manages outgoing bills and invoices and manages incoming payments such as preparing and mailing invoices to customers, posting payments to vendor and third-party accounts, organizing and filing deposit receipts as invoices are paid, reconciling cash receipts and deposits, and preparing reports on delinquent accounts and customer payment profiles.
- To be successful in this role, the holder is expected to; analyzing the business activities and subsequently provide financial guidance and recommendations to guide the management’s decision on periodic financial plans and projections to facilitate and aid the completion of the company's objectives.

- Ensuring profitability and growth by managing and reviewing freight rates as per local regulatory laws or company rules.
- Drive and maximize revenue by investigating ways to improve profitability and analyzing market trends for business opportunities.
Essential Functions
- Analyze costs, pricing, variable contribution sales results, and the company's actual performance compared to business plans, Assess the modes of payments, rate of return, policies, and benefits underlying the program, and other details that form part of logistics accounting.
- Compile and analyze financial information for the organization on a weekly/monthly/quarterly basis as may be required.
- Timely preparation of all management reports, financial reports, and all periodic operating reports; – Financial statements, audit reports, Profit and loss, cash flow statement, Balance sheet.
- Managing and processing financial deals among various companies and/or clients, at times beyond national boundaries.
- Perform business modeling and forecasting for the entire business outlook.
- Define performance standards for all financial activities of the organization.
- Ensure that all revenue is properly captured.
- Settling the company records of accounting by determining the exact amounts payable as well as those pending for cash receiving.
- Implement the company's cost management strategies across the board to ensure budget implementation.
- Appraise each project implemented against expense, cost, and profits and advise as appropriate.
- Cross-check all the entries in the various accounting books and financial statements ensuring all records are accurate and also adopting immediate measures to solve the accounting problem.
- Coordinate with various parties for signing financial contracts and agreements, with thorough adherence to legal issues.
- Ensuring the transparency and efficiency of the organization's financial operations and safeguarding compliance with reporting guidelines.
- Manage the preparation and implementation of the company’s budget.
- Report to Executive Management on variances on established budget and the reasons for the variances.
- Work closely with other business units to analyze their business in terms of feasibility, profit, and loss and provide monthly findings at the monthly performance review meetings.
- Prepares monthly VAT Transactions and periodic Withholding Tax Report to the FC.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliation and report same to management.
- Develop integrated revenue/expense analyses, projections, reports, and presentations.
- Provide and interpret financial information from all business units of the organization.
- Create and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and ensure financial information has been recorded accurately.
- Identify trends and development in competitive environments and present findings to management.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal budgetary & accounting regulatory legislations.
- Establish and maintain appropriate internal control.
- Oversees the workability of the accounting functions including credit control, payables, receivables, and cash management.
- Any other responsibility as assigned by MD / CEO or line manager.
Academic and Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required Accounting or Finance.
- A Master's Degree or MBA is an added advantage.
- Minimum of Four (4) to seven (7) years experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably within the logistics and supply chain industry.
- Relevant professional certification with ICAN or CIMA or ACCA is required.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
- Advanced computer skills in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc. and Accounting Software (Xero, Quickbooks, Sage, etc.).
- Proven knowledge of International Reporting Standards (IFRS), finance, and accounting regulatory laws.
- Extensive understanding of financial trends both within the industry and in general.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent analytical, logical, and problem-solving skills.
- Commercial and business awareness
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with other functional business units, as wells as, the ability to work independently.
- Excellent organizational skills; detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy; accounting data, report and business financials, and analytics.
- Ability to apply discretion and keep financial information confidential.
Compensation / Remuneration
- N120,000 to N150,000 monthly (Offer decision is made within the band and is given based on negotiation/competency and expertise level of the selected talent)
