Job Position: Health, Safety & Environment Supervisor
Job Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Role Purpose
- To support the HSE Manager and team with planning, coordinating and implementing of effective HSE policies, guidelines and procedures to ensure that the department objectives are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in leading the operations and promotions of an integrated management system, encompassing a proactive improvement culture in Quality, Environmental Health and Safety
- Contributing to writing internal health and safety policies/strategies
- Make recommendations following accidents, near miss and incidents
- Provide support to Project and Operation team in all aspects of safety, occupational health, safety and environmental issues.
- Support the HSE Manager in ensuring HSE compliance both internal and external and perform regular HSE audits in the areas of business operations
- Ensure adequate planning of safe working practices and ensuring necessary changes are made
- Keep up to date and ensure compliance with current health and safety legislation
- Ensure proper and safe installation of all equipment
- Carry out regular area inspections
- Investigate/record incidents, accidents, complaints, and cases of accidents
- Create safety reports, bulletins, and newsletters
- Undertake risk assessments and identify potential hazards
- Liaise with relevant authorities
- Ensure proper safety in handling of hazardous substances and materials
Key Requirements
- A First Degree in any Engineering or Physical Science, and formal training in HSE with recognised qualification or certification
- 5+ years’ experience in health and safety
- Knowledge of risk assessment techniques
- Excellent planning, presentation, negotiation, and organisational skills
- Good analytical skills and the ability to think critically
- In depth knowledge of relevant legislation and procedures
- Proficient in all Microsoft Applications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
