Job Title: Human Resources Director
Location: Lagos
Reports to: Project President
Overview
- The Director of Human Resources has primary responsibility for all personnel, compliance, employee relations, labor relations and staff development, affirmative action and equal employment opportunity functions of the company and provides advice and counsel to leaders on a range of personnel matters.
- The Director also participates in Human Resources initiatives and ensures delivery of system-?wide services.
Typical Duties & Responsibilities of Position
- Plan, develop and implement strategy for HR management and development (including Recruitment and selection policy/practices).
- Strategizing the appropriate organization structure - company level & department level.
- Take care of Recruitment for all levels.
- Evolving appropriate HR policies.
- Ensuring implementation of HRD System currently being evolved.
- Evolution of compensation structure & Fitment criteria.
- Periodic review of compensation structure for Managers and staff.
- Manpower planning and creation of the hiring plan.
- Budgeting activities (Expense & Investment).
- Directly responsible for maintaining peaceful and Harmonious relations between the management and all associates.
- Responsible for reviewing our current Employee Engagement and Retention management programs and then accordingly plan and implement programs to fill in the gaps.
- Ensure effective implementation of the disciplinary and grievance procedures for all employee groups.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
Knowledge of:
- Principles, practices and techniques of human resources administration, organization and operation.
- Fully proficient knowledge of state and federal employment law.
- Principles and practices of effective management, training and supervision.
- Methods and techniques for professional record keeping, writing, reporting and project management.
- Enterprise resource systems.
- Must quickly develop a solid working knowledge of Board of Trustee policies and procedures, collective bargaining agreements and memoranda of understanding
Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, facilitation, and conflict mediation skills.
- Solid computer/technology skills.
- Researching, data collection, manipulation and reporting skills
Ability to:
- Effectively plan, implement and manage assigned programs and functions.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals at all levels of the organizational.
- Lead, manage, direct and evaluate staff.
- Supervise and participate in the establishment of department and organization goals, objectives and methods for evaluating achievement and performance levels.
- Implement, explain and apply applicable policies, procedures, laws, codes and regulations.
- Accurately analyze, interpret and evaluate complex administrative and technical issues and data and make appropriate recommendations for action.
- Make oral presentations to clearly convey information and concepts.
- Work independently and as a part of a team and ensure safe work practices.
Education and/or Experience
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Public Administration or closely related field (or unrelated degree plus two additional years of relevant experience)
- Minimum of three years of increasingly responsible salaried Human Resources administrative and supervisory experience.
- Must project and uphold the highest ethical standards and have demonstrated leadership ability and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in related area and/or HR Certification or advanced training
- Experience in higher education or non-?profit HR and in collective bargaining
