Human Resources Manager Job in Lagos

We are about to launch a new upscale hotel in the historic and fast-growing Badagry area. As one of the first major hospitality investments in the region in recent years, we aim to set the benchmark for service excellence, positive employee experience, and community impact.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Position: Human Resources Manager
Job Location: Badagry, Lagos

Responsibilities


  • Lead end-to-end recruitment for all positions (from Operations Manager to housekeeping attendants)
  • Build a local talent pipeline in Badagry and surrounding areas, while also attracting experienced hospitality talent from Lagos and beyond
  • Organize job fairs, partner with local schools, polytechnics, and hospitality training

  • Create a structured 1–2-week onboarding and orientation program for all new hires
  • Develop the complete Employee Handbook including Code of Conduct, Anti-Harassment Policy, Grievance Procedure, Health & Safety, etc.
  • Create department-specific SOPs in collaboration with HODs (especially for Housekeeping, F&B Service, Kitchen, Front Office, and Security)
  • Establish disciplinary and reward & recognition frameworks ensuring full compliance with Nigerian Labour Law, PENCOM, NSITF, ITF, and Lagos State regulations.
  • Design a competitive salary structure and grading system in alignment with local cost of living and hospitality market rates.
  • Set up service charge / tip distribution policy
  • Initially set up and manage a manual payroll. Subsequently select and implement a payroll software/system.
  • Register the hotel with all statutory bodies (PAYE, Pension, NHF, NSITF, ITF) and ensure timely remittances
  • Design staff benefits: meals, uniforms, transportation (where applicable), HMO - medical coverage, leave policy, etc.
  • Develop the annual training calendar and budget
  • Identify training partners for specialized courses (food safety, mixology, etc.)
  • Deliver or coordinate pre-opening training programs (customer service, fire safety, hygiene, brand standards, POS, etc.)
  • Implement a simple but effective performance appraisal system
  • Handle all employee relations issues, investigations, and conflict resolution
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-morale culture in a brand-new property
  • Maintain accurate employee records (physical and digital)
  • Prepare monthly HR reports (headcount, turnover, absenteeism, recruitment status, payroll summary).
