Job Position: Import / Export Assistant Manager
Job Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Purpose
- The import/export assistant manager has a critical role in our organization and is responsible for overseeing the import of products from our international suppliers and partners, work with a team of professionals to ensure that all imports/exports are handled efficiently and in compliance with international and domestic regulations.
- Responsible for managing the import process from start to finish, from working with suppliers to negotiating contracts and ensuring timely deliveries.
- The ideal candidate should have strong organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving skills, as well as extensive experience in international trade and customs regulations
Role and Responsibilities
- Coordination of import/export activities, including customs clearance and documentation
- Development of policies and procedures concerning import/export
- Liaise with freight forwarders and other third parties to ensure timely and accurate import/export process and paperwork.
- Negotiation of contracts with vendors and customers.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to imports and exports.
- Monitoring and analyzing import/export data to identify compliance issues and take corrective actions
- Constantly updating and maintaining import/export database
- Closely monitoring and reporting on international trade trends and developments.
- Develop and maintain good relationships with foreign governments, customs authorities and other relevant regulatory agencies
- Prepare and submit required periodic reports to both internal and external stakeholders
Educational Qualifications and Experience
- First Degree or its equivalent in Business Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related fields
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in import and export operation or related field.
- Experience dealing with government agencies such as custom authorities is beneficial
- Excellent verbal and written commuinications skills are required for effectively liasing with suppliers , customers and other stakeholders, as well as preparing documentation andreports.
- A sound knowledge of international trade regulations and customs-clearing processes.
- High negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office and other computer software related to this field.
