Job Description


  • We are seeking a diligent and experienced Internal Control Manager to lead our internal control planning and monitoring efforts.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for scheduling and assigning audit reviews, reporting on internal control assignments and weaknesses, ensuring recommendations are implemented, and monitoring identified control weaknesses.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and assign audit reviews to team members, ensuring effective use of resources.
  • Report at required intervals on internal control assignments, including planned reviews, control gaps, and process improvements.
  • Ensure all recommendations and change initiatives are given appropriate consideration.
  • Close out and monitor all identified control weaknesses and process gaps.
  • Identify control weaknesses and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure corporate assets are safeguarded and tracked at all times.
  • Oversee and provide quality control for the department to ensure departmental mandate and business goals are met and professional standards are maintained.
  • Plan and coordinate financial, regulatory, compliance, and operational reviews.
  • Regularly review financial and operational risk assessments and strengthen controls to mitigate identified risks.
  • Consistently develop and review internal control policies and procedures.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the internal control team.

Requirements

  • Minimum academic qualification of a Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or any related business degree.
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the Health or Service sector.
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), ACCA.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office package.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, business presentation, and people management skills.
