Responsibilities


  • The General Manager will be responsible for leading the business unit, overseeing daily operations, and ensuring the delivery of world-class shipping agent services.
  • The role includes managing customer relationships, optimizing operational performance, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

  • Operational Leadership:
    • Oversee day-to-day operations of the shipping agent business unit, ensuring smooth handling of vessel agency services, cargo logistics, and client requirements.
    • Implement and maintain operational policies to improve service efficiency, accuracy, and client satisfaction.
    • Manage all aspects of vessel husbandry, port clearances, documentation, and cargo handling.
  • Business Development:
    • Identify and develop new business opportunities with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and cargo owners.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including port authorities, customs, and maritime agencies.
    • Drive growth by increasing market share, securing new contracts, and expanding service offerings.
  • Financial Management:
    • Develop and implement financial strategies to achieve revenue growth, cost control, and profitability.
    • Monitor financial performance, manage budgets, and provide regular financial reporting to the executive team.
    • Ensure efficient cost control measures and optimize operational resources.
  • Team Management:
    • Lead and manage a diverse team of operations, logistics, and customer service staff.
    •  Recruit, train, and develop talent to enhance the efficiency and capability of the business unit.
    •  Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure full compliance with Nigerian maritime laws, international shipping regulations, and environmental policies.
    • Liaise with regulatory authorities, port authorities, customs, and other government agencies to ensure smooth operations.
    • Stay updated on industry trends, shipping laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Client and Stakeholder Management:
    • Act as the primary point of contact for high-profile clients, ensuring excellent service delivery.
    • Resolve client issues promptly and efficiently, maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
    • Develop long-term relationships with clients to foster repeat business and loyalty.
  • Strategic Planning:
    • Work closely with senior management to develop long-term strategic goals for the business unit.
    • Analyze market trends, competition, and industry developments to shape business strategy.
    • Lead initiatives to expand into new markets or offer new services in line with company goals.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Business Administration, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in the shipping or logistics industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • A Master’s Degree is an advantage.
  • In-depth knowledge of shipping operations, vessel handling, cargo logistics, and maritime regulations.
  • Strong financial acumen, with experience in managing budgets and P&L responsibility.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Proven track record of business development and operational excellence.
  • Experience in dealing with Nigerian maritime regulations and port authorities is a plus.

2.) Head QHSE / Marine Surveyor & DPA

Job Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Full Time

Responsibilities

  • To ensure all vessel comply with the industry standard and specification
  • Prepare plans and estimates, design construction schedules and contract specifications for OMS Vessels.
  • Investigate and observe tests on machinery and equipment in compliance with standards.
  •  Co-ordinate the cataloging of ships including Initial/Special, Annual, intermediate Surveys, ISM/ISPS/MLC audits & management, internal audits, pre-loss/valuation & claims surveys, pre-purchase, pre-machinery, pre-hull, pre-condition surveys and quality system management for Engines and Vessels.
  • Examine and approve design plans for vessel
  • Inspect construction standards of vessels
  • Coordinate/witness tests of construction materials, inspecting above waterline section and surveying vessels while paying close attention to hatchways, freeing ports, ventilators, bulkheads, fittings, and attachments, hulls, machinery and equipment during vessel construction to ensure legislative requirements are met.
  • Conduct surveys on vessel over their lifetime and witnessing tests of emergency and safety machinery and equipment for compliance with operating standards and compliance with standards for protection of crew.
  • Drive adherence to standard procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation and industry standards.
  • Ensure statutory surveys and certification are carried out where applicable and liaise with Flag or Port State Surveyors.
  • Examines underwater section of hull while ship is dry-docked to ascertain conditions that indicate repairs are required.
  • Inspects condition of propellers, rudders, and sea valves. Inspects above waterline section of ship, for example hatchways, freeing ports, ventilators, bulkheads, fittings and attachments for compliance with operating standards and compliance with standards for protection of crew.
  • Observes testing of vessel gear for compliance with testing standards and issues or endorses certificate for gear tested.
  • Ensure service delivery improvement by communicating internal/external client feedback as appropriate and liaising with counterparts to ensure consistency in development and delivery of services and application of best practices.
  • Observes operating tests on machinery and equipment and inspects opened up machinery for interior condition.
  • Prepares reports on types of surveys conducted, recommended actions and repairs or conditions remedied.
  • Ensure proper and timely feedback/Report on Surveys conducted.
  • Coordinates the inspection and test of equipment necessary to achieve the quality delivery to clients.
  • Champion definition and implementation of all quality and safety procedures for Ocean Marine Solutions
  • Drive learning within the organisation to ensure crew and stakeholders (including Suppliers/contractors) adhere to global quality, compliance and safety standards
  • In collaboration with the Technical team, coordinate the process of lifting of all equipment and handle efficient storage of all hazardous materials and perform quality audits as per planned schedule.
  • Champion all projects relating to Compliance, inspection, safety management and Survey in OMS.
  • Custodian of all project documentation upon project completion.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Master Mariner, Engineer or Scientist (University Degree is an advantage);
  • Minimum 10 years of industry experience as a Marine Surveyor & QA/QC;
  • Bachelor of Engineering from any reputable University
  • Strong leadership capability

  • Computer literacy in, MS Office 2010
  • OVMSA Skills is highly required,
  • OVID Inspection is a key area and a must.

3.) Senior Road Design Engineer (Technical Advisor) - Expatriate

Job Location: Abuja

  • Responsible for checking of the design (fulfils the role of a senior checking engineer/architect to ensure integrity of design in line with group's QMS)
  • Supports and advises the HoD in all technical matters

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Holds a Master's Degree or equivalent in the respective Engineering discipline of a reputable university / training institute / industrial organization
  • Has a minimum of 10 years of experience as a senior design engineer (thereof minimum 5 years abroad / international and has undergone internal training specifically for the position), in related engineering discipline, in particular with regards of independently designing, optimizing and checking complex engineering designs and structures
  • Familiar with the respective Nigerian engineering codes/standards is a plus
  • Knowledge of international codes/standards (e.g. German, British) would be desirable
  • Has worked in an international, multidisciplinary design firm and has undergone internal training specifically for the position to guarantee respective knowledge transfer into the Group
  • Has experience with MS Office, AutoCAD, Civil3D, EPANET, EPASWMM, HY8, URBANO and other state of the art software applications required for the respective discipline. Knowledge in PRO-VI desirable.
