Job Position: Core Engineer

Job Location: Lekki, Lagos
Department: Engineering - TPS

About the Role

• We are looking for a driven, passionate, and committed individual to join the team as we grow and expand across Africa and beyond.
• As a Core Engineer, you manage and seamlessly blend front-end and back-end web development.
• Additionally, you build new, improve and manage existing integrations and applications with external partners.

What Your Day to Day Activities Will Be:

• Produce application architecture design translated from high-level product/user requirements
• Design, develop and deliver code that can support new product feature/enhancements in an agile environment
• Develop customer-facing applications using RESTful APIs
• Create database schemas that represent and support new products/ enhancements
• Maintain quality and ensure optimum performance of developed applications
• Collaborate in design and development with the rest of the team
• Maintain code integrity, organization, versioning, and apply object-oriented design principles
• Carry out unit tests of developed applications as well as setup automated testing of applications to ensure correctness, robustness, and scalability
• Work with frontend designers and converting designs to visual elements
• Maintain code and application security at all times. Ensure data protection
• Develop applications in back-end programming languages like Java, .NET, PHP as well as web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Jquery
• Guide and mentor new engineers and interns
• Perform other duties assigned by team lead or engineering manager

Required Competency and skillset to be a Waver

• In-depth knowledge and understanding of the organisation’s strategy, product and service offerings
• In-depth understanding of both front-end and back-end languages, and SEO standards
• Excellent Data structures and algorithms as well as creative skills to apply them in solving problems
• Excellent knowledge of database and ORM technologies
• Ability and interest to quickly learn new languages and technologies
• Excellent organisational and people management skills
• Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting and quality assurance skills
• Excellent time management and analytical skills
• Excellent agile delivery knowledge including branching, testing and continuous development. Collaborate with other engineers to deliver sprint goals
• Excellent Devops knowledge including Source Control, Continuous Integration, Configuration Management, Deployment Automation, Containers, Orchestration and Cloud Platforms like AWS, Azure and GCP

Job Position: Senior Node Back End Engineer

Job Location: Lekki, Lagos

About the Role

• We are looking for a driven, passionate, and committed individual to join the team as we grow and expand across Africa and beyond.
• As a Senior Node Backend Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to implement, maintain, and where applicable, support product features (and or enhancements)

Duties
What your day to day activities will be like:

• Implementation, testing, delivery, and maintenance of product features (new and existing)
• Creating technical reports on feature implementations
• Research on existing/new product features and areas of improvement
• Commitment to creating and maintaining secure coding practices (and standards)
• Providing support for product features (when needed)
• Perform any other duties that may be assigned

Requirements
Required competency and skillset to be a waver:

• At least 5 years of working experience in a full-time position
• Good knowledge of Javascript for the backend (NodeJS) [Typescript is a plus]
• Good, working, knowledge of a Git
• Good, working, knowledge of the SQL query language (MySQL flavor). [Knowledge and understanding of ORMs is a plus]
• Good, working, knowledge of NoSQL databases (MongoDB especially). [Knowledge and understanding of ODMs is a plus]

Job Position: Front End Engineer

About the Role

• We are looking for a driven, passionate, and committed individual to join the team as we grow and expand across Africa and beyond.
• As a Front End Engineer, you will manage and seamlessly blend front-end and back-end web development.
• You will also be responsible for implementing visual and interactive elements that users engage with through their web browser when using our products and the translation of the UI/UX design wireframes to actual code that will produce visual elements of the application.

What Your Day to Day Activities Will Be 

• Develop new user-facing features
• Create innovative solutions to web design issues to help make the application more visually appealing and enhance the usability
• Ensure quick updates on our products to make them effective
• Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
• Ensure troubleshooting and fixing issues on a product’s Front End
• Produce application architecture design translated from high-level product/user requirements
• Design, develop and deliver code that can support new product features/enhancements in an agile environment
• Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability
• Assure that all user input is validated before submitting to back-end
• Develop a plan, process, and timeline for development projects
• Analyze, design, and develop tests and test-automation suites
• Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements in existing systems and platforms.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with users, project managers, product managers, and other engineers to achieve elegant solutions
• Provide recommendations for continuous improvement
• Work alongside other engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices.

Required competency and skillset to be a waver:

• Proven work experience in Software Engineering.
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of the organization’s product and service offerings.
• In-depth understanding of VueJs, HTML and SASS CSS.
• Understanding of microservice architecture.
• Knowledge of writing unit tests.
• Knowledge of continuous integration and delivery.
• Strong DevOps focus and experience building and deploying infrastructure with cloud deployment technologies.
• Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervision.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
• Attitude to work.
• Ability to grasp project requirements quickly.
