Egbin Power Plc. Lagos is one of the biggest additions to the electricity industry in Nigeria. Often seen as the biggest single generating power station in Sub-Saharan Africa, it was built to meet the every rising demand for electricity in Lagos and its environs.
Following the nation’s privatization exercise, Sahara, through its power division, Sahara Power Group and sundry affiliations, acquired the 1320 MW installed capacity Egbin Power Plant. We are working towards deploying a minimum of 5,000 MW of electricity generation over the next five years.
We are recruiting to fill the following positions below:
1.) Unit Head, Turbine

Job Summary
- The Unit Head, Turbine, is responsible for overseeing all mechanical preventive and corrective maintenance activities within the plant.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for Predictive, Preventive, and Corrective Maintenance of the 220MW Steam Turbines and Auxiliaries
- Implement Continuous Improvement of Maintenance Activities to Ensure Asset Availability and Reliability
- Ensure the Turbine Section Meets the Required Preventive Maintenance, Condition Monitoring, and Corrective Maintenance Targets
- Oversee Maintenance Activities of the Turbine Section and Resolve Challenges as it Arises.
- Evaluates Maintenance Efforts and Impacts on Reliability and Availability of Assets.
- Performance Evaluation of Team Members.
- Implement Reliability Centered Maintenance on the Steam Turbines and Auxiliaries.
- Responsible for Planning, Scheduling, Execution, and Supervision of Maintenance Activities.
- Coordinates Maintenance Activities to Ensure Assets are Delivered Within Schedule, Scope, and Cost.
- Responsible for Risk Assessment and Risk Management of the Turbine Asset Groups.
- Responsible for Resources (Spares, Tools, Men) Planning in the Turbine Section.
- Ensure Effective Maintenance Management in the Enterprise Asset Management System (IBM Maximo).
- Compile Data and Reports Generated by Team Members and Generate Sections and Departments Reports
- Supervision of Generation, Assignment, Scheduling, and Execution of Work Orders in the Asset Group.
- Ensures Strict Adherence to QHSE Specifications in the Section.
- Coordinate Routine Review of SOPs, Work Instructions, and Preventive Maintenance Check Sheets.
- Generate and Review Work Packages for Annual Inspections and Overhauls.
- Perform Other Tasks That the Section Head and Head of Department may assign.
Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Production Engineering or other Relevant Engineering Degrees
- Minimum of five (15) Years of Relevant Work Experience with a Minimum of Five (5) Years in a Supervisory Role
- Membership in Relevant Professional Bodies (NATE, NSE, COREN, NiMechE) is Compulsory
- Knowledge of Management Systems, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018
- Knowledge of Project Management and Risk Management
Skills and Competencies:
- Experience and working exposure to maintenance of turbine generators and auxiliaries.
- In-depth understanding of Turbine Operations.
- Adequate knowledge and application of turbine equipment.
- Clear understanding of the statutory requirements of the equipment.
- Sound knowledge of power generation processes.
- Knowledge of modern maintenance management practices and spare inventory management.
- Sound technical troubleshooting skills.
- Appreciable knowledge of safety and environmental requirements.
- Knowledge of standard operating procedure with respect to maintenance of turbine generator and its auxiliaries.

2.) Plant Efficiency Engineer

Job Description
- The Plant Efficiency Engineer will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the plant performance, providing technical expertise and engineering support in the area of plant performance and efficiency to address any potential gap.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor the performance of assigned generating units as well as the performance of individual equipment and subsystems (e.g., boilers, turbines, condensers, FW heaters).
- Determine the causes of generating unit performance losses through diagnostic analysis of operational data for both steady-state and transient operation, along with physical inspection of plant components as required.
- Provide technical assistance to improve system performance, capacity and reliability.
- Analyse and troubleshoot discrepancies between current operating data, model predictions and long-term operating trends.
- Guide and assist the Maintenance and Operation departments to effect improvements in plant performance and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot abnormal operating events and coordinate a solution between relevant parties.
- Initiates improvements to generating units to optimize plant performance.
- Monitor, analyse, evaluate, and investigate reliability issues in systems, processes, and equipment.
- Coordinate performance tests & develop improvement methods.
- Model and predict consumption of gas, water and other consumables, compare to current and long-term trends, analyse the results and make recommendations for improvements.
- Generate periodic performance reports for management review.
Education and Work Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in Mechanical or Process Engineering
- 3 - 5 years of experience in Steam Power plant operations or 3 - 5 years in an efficiency role.
- Postgraduate/relevant professional qualifications will be an added advantage.
Skills and Competencies:
- Knowledge of operations of steam turbine power plant and its generation components; turbine, boiler, BOP etc.
- Knowledge of calculating power plant indices.
- Knowledge of key machine performance characteristics.
- Competence to identify, measure and improve performance on key operating parameters of the operations of the power plant.
- Knowledge of power plant chemistry.
- Knowledge of safety, environment, OHSAS and other statutory norms.
- Ability to pay attention to details.
- Ability to identify impending problems and take preventive measures.
- Analytical ability for technical problem-solving.

3.) Technical Procurement Lead

- Responsible for leading all tactical and strategic activity with contract tendering for technical services, materials and supplies including CapEx.
- Provide effective management for delivering an effective and efficient procurement service to the business.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages the actual procurement processes for the Company’s needs all year round and in active real-time liaison with respective user departments to ensure conformance with the above-stated Company policy objectives.
- Challenge demand and critically review requisitions, technical specifications and scope.
- Lead negotiations to secure the best commercial terms under the technical specifications and requirements to ensure the best value.
- Present sourcing strategies and award recommendations to the senior management.
- Develop and execute action plans to optimize re-order levels in coordination with technical departments and stores.
- Market screening, audit & selection for new and potential suppliers and contractors.
- Analyze supplier risk and implement mitigation measures.
- Develop, implement and execute contract (renewal) strategies.
- Lead the contractor qualification process and coordinated HSE evaluation.
- Negotiate and administer frame agreements and contracts.
- Procurement lead of Capex projects in cooperation with different project teams and stakeholders within and outside Egbin Power Plc.
- Evaluate and monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and to determine the need for changes.
- Contribute to developing, implementing and reviewing corporate strategies, annual technical project plans, policies and procedures.
- To develop and maintain positive relationships with key partners and stakeholders.

- Ensure compliance with the NDPR and other data protection laws, and data protection policies.
- Undertake Data Protection Impact Assessment as applicable to curb the risk during data processing operations.
- Ensure awareness, understanding and application of QHSE policy and application of departmental objectives.
- Ensure awareness of the Integrated Management System (ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015 &45001:2018) and the implications of not conforming with the requirements.
- Understand and identify hazards, risks, environmental aspects and Impacts as it is related to their jobs.
Educational Qualifications and Work Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Logistics, Business Administration, Transportation, or Engineering or its equivalent.
- 7 - 11 years of progressively responsible technical, engineering, construction management, or heavy industry procurement experience.
- Postgraduate qualification/or relevant qualification is desirable; membership in a recognized Chartered organization relevant to the post is also desirable.
- Project Management (e.g. Prince2) qualification will be an added advantage.
- Professional experience in a similar position as Procurement Lead or Lead Buyer for technical procurement.
- Experience in an international industry environment, Energy or Utilities industry is preferred.
- Prior leadership role in contract management, RFQ bid process, contract law and Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) preferred.
- Proven experience in procurement in large organizations.
- Experience in a variety of sourcing arrangements.
- Experience with working with Power Plants or/and managing Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) is highly desirable.
Skills and Competencies:
