Job Overview
- The Junior Finance Officer will work closely with the finance team to assist in the management of daily financial activities. The role focuses on supporting the preparation of management accounts, managing treasury operations, and performing account reconciliation and settlements.
- This position is ideal for candidates looking to develop their finance careers, gaining hands-on experience in various financial processes while ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations.
What You Will Do
- Management Accounts: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts by gathering and analyzing financial data. You will support the Finance Manager in reviewing the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow Help ensure all entries are accurate and documented.
- Financial Analysis & Reporting: Collaborate with senior finance personnel to produce variance analysis reports comparing actual results to budgeted figures. Participate in performance reporting that tracks key financial metrics, including profitability, liquidity, and cost control. Contribute to the development of financial models for forecasting and budgeting
- Treasury Management: Support the day-to-day treasury operations by monitoring cash flow and managing liquidity to meet operational needs. Assist in bank reconciliations, ensuring that funds are accurately recorded, and help prepare reports on the company’s cash position. Work with senior staff to manage relationships with banking partners, ensuring that banking transactions such as transfers and settlements are conducted in a timely
- Account Settlement & Reconciliation: Perform account reconciliations for bank accounts, general ledgers, and subledgers to ensure consistency and accuracy. Investigate discrepancies, coordinate with relevant teams to resolve variances, and ensure that reconciliation records are well-maintained. Prepare monthly and quarterly reconciliation reports to ensure transparency in the accounting
- Documentation & Compliance: Help maintain accurate documentation of financial records, invoices, and supporting documents to meet internal controls and external audit Assist in the preparation of regulatory filings and ensure that all financial activities comply with legal and internal policy guidelines.
- Audit & Support: Provide support during internal and external audits by organizing financial records and providing necessary Assist in the implementation of audit recommendations to improve processes and controls. Offer general financial support to the team, including data entry and report generation.
- Learning & Development: Keep up-to-date with the latest financial regulations, standards, and tools to enhance your understanding of finance You will work closely with experienced finance professionals to develop skills in key areas such as financial reporting, account reconciliation, and treasury management.
What You Should Have
- Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related
- Experience: 1-2 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, or treasury Internship experience is acceptable.
- Knowledge & Skills: Basic understanding of accounting principles, financial analysis, and reconciliation Familiarity with Excel and financial software (such as QuickBooks or ERP systems). Willingness to learn and adapt to new financial tools and systems.
- Behavioral Skills: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing financial data. Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and teamwork Eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced financial environment.
