Management Accountant
Position: Management Accountant
Location: Lagos, Nigeria
Salary: Negotiable
Our Client, a chemical manufacturing company, is looking to attract a suitably qualified candidate to fill the above position.
Purpose of role
The Management Accountant will be responsible for leading, planning, supervising and organizing all financial accounting, financial reporting and performance management functions of the organization with a view to providing management with accurate information on the financial position whilst also ensuring that accounting standards and internal controls are complied with.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare, analyze and report weekly, monthly, quarterly gross margin analysis
- Maintain internal control documentation and test internal controls.
- Preparation of monthly management accounts to agreed timescales, including balance sheet reconciliations and variance commentary
- Prepare detailed account analysis and reconcile sales, cost and inventory, liability accounts.
- Support and assist internal department reporting requirements such as audit schedules, tax schedules and others.
- Prepare Budget vs. Actual costs on a monthly basis.
- Financial governance - to ensure the organization’s policies are current and are being adhered to.
- Work with the Finance Manager/ Director on Finance initiatives and process improvements.
- Any other tasks required by the Finance Manager/ Director.
- Drive the production of annual budgets and other adhoc forecasts.
- Coordinate and manage the activities of the project accountant.
- Ensure compliance with all financial and regulatory requirements including taxes.
- Review and ensure that the company’s Fixed Asset Register is always update to date.
- Discharge all duties according to the company’s laid down standard operating procedures (SOPs) including the finance tracker.
Qualifications & Skills
- First degree or its equivalent in any numerate discipline preferably in finance or accounting. MBA or Master's degree in Finance or Accounting will be added advantage.
- Minimum of (8) years relevant experience of which at least two (2) must have been at a strategic management level with significant exposure to organization-wide financial management.
- Experience in a manufacturing/fmcg company is an added advantage.
- Demonstrable experience in driving business.
- Knowledge of the Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAP) / Internal and Financed reporting standards (IFRS).
- Knowledge of Federal and State Financial and tax regulations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Ability to use office productivity tools (Excel, MS).
