Job Position: Operations Manager

Job Location: Apapa, Lagos

Job Summary

• A qualified Operations Manager who would contribute to the organization’s success by supervising and coordinating the activities of shipping and delivery with emphasis on accuracy, timeliness and service.
• The Operations Manager will also be responsible for maintaining communications with carriers, suppliers, custom brokers and others involved in the shipping and delivery of merchandise. 

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate all requirements (within Shipping and delivery) of Customer Service Department to meet customer requirements
• Review shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and delivery schedules
• Oversee outgoing shipment activities to ensure accuracy, completeness and condition of shipments
• Establish and maintain communication with custom brokers, carriers, and others involved in the shipping and delivery of merchandise
• Direct and review the work plan for assigned staff and send a monthly KPI report and other correspondence to the Human Resource Department
• Implement appropriate safety guidelines and investigate injuries or unsafe conditions
• Obtain prompt correspondence from field officers to keep track of job operations
• Ensure all new field officers undergo a training programme for a clear understanding of processes and procedures involved in their various units
• Liaise with field officers to ensure processes are effective and adhered to
• Communicate effectively with shipping companies, supervisors, customs brokers, sales executives and customers
• Ensure that all concerned parties work together to guarantee that shipments are packed, sent and delivered in a timely manner
• Contact various shipping companies to get shipping quotes and decide on the best carrier based on cost, availability and reliability.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering or other related fields
• 5 cognate years’ experience in the Logistics Industry with 3 years in a supervisory level.
