IAL Nigeria Limited is an indigenous Multimodal International Logistics and Supply Chain Management Company with services covering International Freight Forwarding, International Removal & Relocation, Project Logistics in the Oil Industry, Power and Telecoms Sectors, Warehousing & Storage, Dangerous Goods Handling including Radioactive Sources & Explosives, Exhibition Logistics, and Road Haulage/Transportation with the Head Office located at 16,Burma Road, Apapa, Lagos and Branch Offices at Abuja, Ikeja, Port Harcourt, Bonny Island, Onne and Warri. The Company incorporated in July, 1978 and commenced operation in October of the same year.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Position: Operations Officer


Job Location: Lagos
Job Type: Full Time

Responsibilities

  • Retrieve information from shipping companies concerning the ETA of the vessels.
  • Monitor that the payment processes for the shipment are complete and accurate.
  • Liaise and collaborate with the documentation department to facilitate a speedy capturing process.
  • When required, request terminal charges from terminal owners (APMT, Port & Cargo, etc)
  • If applicable, confirm telex release or otherwise the original bill of lading.
  • Maintain business relationships with shipping company representatives and terminal operators.
  • Make necessary preparations for the customs examination of the shipment
  • Consistently collaborate with the team in learning and understanding the kinds of cargo that may be applicable and the processes involved for timely clearance.
  • Complete processes required with the customs office to initiate the shipment examination
  • Collaborate with the team in ensuring the proper positioning of the containers.
  • Maintain up-to-date information on the custom rates for different cargos.
  • Other responsibilities as required by the business process.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a First Degree from a recognized institution. (2’2)
  • 2 - 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Must be tech savvy (Outlook, MS Word, Excel, PPT, V-look Up etc)
  • Masters’ Degree is an additional advantage.
  • Ability to work in a team and follow laid-down instructions
  • Ability to take full responsibility for actions taken.
  • Practical experience in all port activities, ranging from clearing, shipping, maritime and customs duties.
  • Must be physically fit and be able to withstand pressure.
  • Must be able to take initiative and can apply discretion
  • Must be dedicated and open to learning new things.
  • Impressive communication manners.
