Job Description

  • Our client requires the services of a Portfolio manager to serve as manager in the efficient process of cash management in a manner consistent with the objectives of the Company.

Duties for this Role


  • Provide input in the analysis of client credit data and financial statements to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money.
  • Evaluate customer records and recommend feasible payment options
  • Review credit applications are completed and processed in a timely manner based on stipulated guidelines and policy rules.
  • Oversee follow-up of all pending credit applications
  • Grow the asset base of the company by increasing company leases, commercial papers, loans etc within company guidelines
  • Responsible for the recommendation of strategies regarding non-performing assets
  • Report on non-performing assets
  • Periodically review clients’ financial status
  • Review periodic liquidity, profitability and creditworthiness of clients and make recommendations
  • Consult with clients on a regular basis to resolve client complaints, and extend new credit or new products
  • Assist in the development of junior colleagues by acting as a coach and teacher to ensure they progress in their careers.
  • Participate actively in brainstorming and creating solutions to identified problems so as to promptly achieve the team's objectives
  • Responsible for maintaining professional conduct at all times and adhering to all company's and regulator's policies, processes and directives
  • Build on client relationships by periodically keeping in contact and maintaining the existing client base
  • Actively source and build a new client base
  • Responsible for self-development using the company and other resources to acquire knowledge for developing relevant job skills and competencies
  • Responsible for dissipating knowledge to developing internal skills and competencies and training other members of the team through formal and informal channels

Requirements
The ideal candidate for this role should possess the following:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree, in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • A Master's Degree is an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience as a fund or portfolio manager.
  • Managerial experience is desirable.
  • A high level of knowledge about different securities and financial products and how they support investor goals
  • Very strong client management skills,
  • An understanding of any financial regulations and procedures in order to protect client investments and ensure that they are making legal and sound decisions.
  • Good analytical skills with great attention to detail
  • Good risk management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Very good networking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Leadership skills and is able to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Discipline with a strong work ethic and professionalism
  • Interest in process improvement.
