Secretary to the Governing Council of a Professional body in Nigeria
We are the apex professional body in Nigeria with a mandate to cater for and represent Directors in their individual capacities across the various sectors of the economy. It has made significant and highly impressive strides, working closely with government, corporate organisations, bilateral chambers and diplomatic missions to raise the standard of corporate governance and leadership in the private and public sectors.
Founded on 17 May 1983, we have been at the forefront of promoting good governance practices in Nigerian companies and the Public Sector. Through its various activities, we have helped develop professional standard of directorship, and provided best practice guidelines for company directors to perform their duties effectively up to the international standards.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Secretary to the Governing Council
Location: Nigeria
Job Summary
- The Secretary to the Governing Council Provides Company secretarial services for the institute and ensure the effective functioning of the Institute’s Governing Council and other committees of the Governing Council.
- Oversee all internal and external legal and regulatory matters in CIoD Nigeria.
Academic & Professional Requirements
- Bachelor of Law Degree from a recognized institution.
- Admission to practice Law in Nigeria
- A Legal Practitioner with at least 10 years post call cognate experience in corporate law or related field of law; or
- Membership of a relevant professional body e.g. NBA, CIoD, ICSAN, etc.
- A Chartered Secretary with at least 10 years cognate experience
Experience:
- Experience in a business membership organisation will be an added advantage.
Competency and Skills Requirement:
- In-depth knowledge of corporate governance practices, regulatory frameworks, and compliance obligations and a strong understanding of CAMA 2020 and the Nigerian Code of Corporate Governance 2018.
