Job Position: Underwriter
Job Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

• The Underwriter will assess the risk of insuring a person or company according to the likelihood of a claim being made.
• He / She will strike and maintain a balance between attracting and retaining customers through competitive insurance premiums and being able to cover any potential losses from claims.

Responsibilities

• Review insurance applications for compliance and adherence.
• Liaise with the Senior Underwriter and specialist to gather information and opinions.
• Balance between mass and homogeneity of risks to predict future risk.
• Draw up quotes for competitive insurance premiums.
• Negotiate and define the specific terms of insurance with policyholders and partners.
• Follow applicable insurance laws.

Requirements 

• HND / BSc in Insurance or related field.
• Two years of work experience in life assurance underwriting and rating.
• Experience in Insurance Indemnity is considered an additional advantage
• Excellent knowledge of insurance policies and ability to relate policy provisions to the loss exposure.
• Confident decision-making skills.
• Knowledge of statistical packages.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
