Job Position: Fund Accountant

Job Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary


  • The Fund Accountant is solely responsible for the preparation and review of mutual fund and private equity fund valuations, including portfolio valuation, and income allocations. In addition, the incumbent will be involved in the preparation and review of reports, act as a direct liaison with the fund managers, fund administrators, custodian and other related parties.

The Main Responsibilities of the Position
The successful candidate will play a vital and accountable role in all aspects of fund accounting and management. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Daily cash reconciliation of mutual funds bank accounts
  • Monthly securities reconciliation
  • Monthly Portfolio reconciliation
  • Daily Settlement of Treasury bills/ bonds/Fixed Deposits instruments
  • Daily Direct Debit mandate management
  • Daily calculation of available inflow for investment and settlement of trades
  • Liaison with Custodian and trustees
  • Prepare daily cash reconciliations reports
  • Ensure prompt daily posting of all financial transactions to appropriate funds/portfolios and the respective general ledgers within specified timeline
  • Mentoring and management of interns assigned to the unit

Requirements/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent Honours degree in Economics; Accounting, Finance; Actuarial Science, Statistics, Banking & Finance or other related discipline
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Fund Accountant
  • Relevant professional qualification such Professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, CFA will be an added advantage
  • Candidates are required to have strong quantitative, analytical and communication skills

Required knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong financial modelling/valuation skills
  • Excellent Knowledge of SEC regulatory structure in the Nigerian business environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project & Visio packages
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent inter-personal and people skills
  • Updated knowledge of current issues in portfolio management, asset as well as the domestic and international financial market.
