Head of Operations

Our client is a Trading and Procurement support company incorporated to provide supply-chain services in the FCMG sector of the Nigerian economy. 

The company offers a competitive and efficient supply of raw materials to meet the needs of clients in the Food and Beverage Industry, and other industries. 

 

The purpose of this job shall be to:

· Position the company as an industry leader in Supply Chain solutions within a period of 12 months.

· Oversee operational and functional areas of the business in accordance with best practice whilst generating management reports.

· Identify and develop business opportunities pertaining to the supply of raw materials.


· Drive business performance by delivering business development excellence through an understanding of the client and industry needs, offering them with competitive and efficient solutions.

· Understand the value chain of the PET resins, Citric Acid and other food preservatives market, and create value-adding solutions through the different segments of the chain.

· Coordinate the supply chain function in tandem with sales projections and active orders.

· Inventory Management.

-Liaise with Port/Customs officials and clearing agents to facilitate importation and clearing of inventory. 

 

Responsibilities

Strategy and Execution

Responsible for the development, maintenance, and execution of the overall organizational strategy for the company with support from the Head of Corporate Strategy.

Leadership

Lead and develop the Logistics team and enable capability building by developing individual team members.

Business & Market Development

Execute an aggressive incursion into the market for raw materials and food chemicals. 

Develop a detailed knowledge of the food and beverage sector to shape and progress the company's strategic plan.

Oversee business development and sales

Market Research

Actively stay abreast of the business environment and industry trends and develop sales plans and analysis with market intelligence to enable the company to attain the position of market leadership. 

Opportunity Management

Accountable for the identification and realization of approved business opportunities with the right partnerships in close collaboration with functional experts. 

Supply chain management

Develop procurement strategies that are inventive and cost-effective.

Source and engage reliable international suppliers/ vendors.

Develop and continuously update the supplier database for all commodities traded by the company, including commodities that have been identified as potential products.

Negotiate with suppliers to secure advantageous terms for the company.

Build and maintain long–term relationships with suppliers and vendors.

Approve purchase orders; organize and coordinate delivery of goods to customers.

Perform risk assessment on potential contracts and agreements.

Control the procurement budget and promote a cost-saving culture.

Prepare periodic procurement reports.

Inventory Management

Oversee Warehouse management, inventory control, material handling, transportation of goods, and workforce planning. 

Drive the automation of inventory.

Reduce stock holding periods to ensure that products are sold off within their shelf lives.

 

Qualifications

B. Sc/ HND, an MBA will be an added advantage

Minimum of 10 years experience with at least 3 years experience in Senior Management team of a company dealing with food chemicals, preservatives, and food raw materials.

Minimum of 5 years of Business Development, Sales, and/or Marketing experience with specific emphasis on industry experience.
