Job Position: HSSE Officer

Job Location: Sagamu, Ogun State
Industry: Oil & Gas

Role Objective

  • To ensure the establishment of the QHSE Management System that is compliant with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015 and Monitor compliance with the Company’s Management Systems.

Key Responsibilities


  • Conduct safety inspection of both owned company and third party-owned fleet for supply chain operations (Onboarding, Outbound and Inbound Vehicle inspection);
  • Conduct regular inspection of facility, safety equipment (for firefighting, spill containment, first aid etc.);
  • Conduct periodic risk assessment in accordance with the applicable safety standards and recommend appropriate safety measures;
  • Assist with the implementation of Job Safety Analysis and inspect job sites activities during particularly difficult or hazardous work situations;
  • Participates in preparation of monthly HSE reports, statistics and presentations related to HSE performance;
  • Investigate the root cause HSE complaints put forward by staff members, customers, clients and contractors and report the results;
  • Adequately report all incidents (near miss/accident) to the HSSE Supervisor and Head, HSSE;
  • Assist in the implementation and continuous improvement of the organization’s HSSE management programmes to attain required certifications;
  • Ensure proper waste segregation and management within company operations;
  • Liaise with external (local and international) and government agencies (Fire Service, FEPA and DPR), and other 3rd parties on quality assurance, health and safety issues, to ensure all workplace locations remain safe, free from health hazards;
  • Monitor HSSE compliance and performance history of potential contractors and other 3rd parties and may be required during industrial accidents;
  • Participate in routine equipment and operations audit and raise issues on potential environmental safety risks for management’s attention;
  • Issue Permit to work;
  • Maintain Safety Equipment (preventive and corrective);
  • Ensure regular emergency response exercises and drills are conducted to ensure the highest level of preparedness in any emergency. Maintains records of such drills, providing recommendations for emergency response improvements;
  • Any other duty as assigned by Supervisors/ management.

Requirements
Educational Qualification:

  • A Bachelor of Science / Engineering Degree from an accredited university.

Professional Qualification:

  • Professional Membership/Accreditation in Health, Safety and Environment (e.g. as a Member of Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria, Associate Safety Professional (ASP)) would be an advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-5 years’ cognate work experience as a Health and Safety Officer within a reputable company in the Oil and Gas industry.
