We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Position: Backend Software Developer
Job Location: Lagos

Key Activities

• Facilitate the building and releasing of features of secure and highly available platforms.
• Document, review, analyze, design, develop, test, modify, troubleshoot, and implement Windows and web applications.
• You will be part of the entire software development life cycle.
• Ensure that complex software problems are investigated, diagnosed, and resolved in a timely manner and according to defined standards and procedures.
• Provide technical guidance and oversight to ensure that the work delivered aligns with the company's technical standards.
• Develop new functions, implement feature requests, and fix bugs in software design and specification, in collaboration with product managers.
• Create complex, custom Web Applications in response to user requirements using the following tools and capabilities: JavaScript, HTML5, C#, CSS3, Ajax, JSON, Visual Basic.
• Maintain existing web/Windows applications and develop innovative improvements/tools to enhance features and performance of existing core applications.
• Interface with management to understand their business goals and visions for products supported by the company, and assist in requesting, evaluating, and acquiring new software, ensuring proper integration in the test and production environments.
• Provide database management, website development/maintenance, and user instruction and training as needed.
• Promote and nurture good team practices such as TDD, system security, code reviews, and pair programming.
• Ensure that PPL developers understand the business context and value of their tasks, as well as how it impacts users.

Specific Certification, knowledge and skills

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
• A minimum of 5-9 years of professional experience, during which you’ve built technical expertise and professionalism.
• An understanding of at least one core backend language: Python, JavaScript/Node, PHP, Ruby, Java, C#.
• Proficient knowledge of modern software development paradigms (Object-Oriented and Functional programming).

• Relational (SQL) database, non-relational (NoSQL) database and ORMs/ODMs.

Other Specification:

• Working knowledge of core data structures.
• Familiarity with at least one cloud hosting platform --(ex: AWS, GCP).
• Proficient in Cloud Technology and Cloud migration.
• Exceptional interpersonal & communication skills and the ability to work effectively with other business unit leads.
• Familiar with Web Standards, Accessibility Standards, and cross-browser compatibility.
• Experience with building and maintaining ERP and CMS systems.
• Experience in web development for mobile devices.
• Any other web languages or technologies would be considered as an advance.
