Job Position: Civil Engineer

Job Location: Abuja (FCT)

Job Purpose


  • We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Civil Engineer to join our team for building project site supervision services. 
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering with a focus on building construction projects. 
  • This role requires the supervision and monitoring of all civil engineering aspects of the construction process, ensuring that the project is completed on time, within budget, and in full compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and supervise the civil engineering aspects of the construction site, ensuring work aligns with approved plans, technical specifications, and regulations.
  • Review and interpret civil engineering designs, drawings, and specifications to ensure the construction is carried out correctly and efficiently.
  • Monitor and inspect construction work to ensure compliance with safety standards, quality controls, and building codes.
  • Ensure that civil works such as foundations, structural framing, drainage, roadworks, and other relevant civil systems are executed according to the design and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and attend progress meetings to provide updates, resolve issues, and keep the project on track.
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, architects, and other engineers to address any on-site challenges or changes that may arise during construction.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to contractors and the project team regarding civil engineering issues and solutions.
  • Ensure proper implementation of construction methods and materials, managing site logistics to ensure an efficient construction process.
  • Supervise the testing and quality control processes for materials used in civil works, including concrete, soil, and aggregates, to ensure they meet required standards.
  • Review and approve contractor submissions, including method statements, work plans, and quality documentation, to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Maintain detailed records of site activities, inspections, work completed, and variations to ensure proper documentation of progress.
  • Manage the resolution of any issues related to civil engineering during construction, and ensure work is done according to industry best practices.
  • Ensure the project adheres to the established schedule and budget, reporting any delays or cost overruns to project managers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Masters or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on building construction projects and site supervision.
  • COREN and NSE Registered
  • Proven experience in supervising civil engineering works on construction projects, particularly in building projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of civil engineering principles, building codes, construction methods, and safety regulations.
  • Strong understanding of structural design, materials, and site preparation.
  • Proficiency in civil engineering design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.) and project management tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with contractors, project managers, architects, and other engineers.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues on-site.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and regulations relevant to construction sites.
