We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Position: Fire / HSE Assistant

Job Location: Apapa, Lagos

The Purpose of the Job


  • To ensure the safety and protection of personnel, assets, and the environment by carrying out fire prevention measures, emergency response, and routine safety inspections.

The Job

  • Perform fire prevention duties and respond to firefighting operations swiftly and effectively to minimize risks.
  • Operate and maintain fire pumps and other firefighting equipment to ensure operational readiness.
  • Conduct routine HSE inspections to identify potential hazards and assess the condition of all fire safety infrastructure, including extinguishers, fire hydrants, alarms, and emergency exits, and report any deficiencies for prompt resolution.
  • Monitor the condition of HSE equipment and support preventive maintenance efforts.
  • Organize and conduct fire drills to ensure all personnel are aware of emergency procedures and document the results and areas for improvement.
  • Deliver basic internal fire safety training sessions to educate staff on fire prevention, firefighting techniques, and emergency response protocols.
  • Support the issuance of work permits by assessing site-specific risks and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

  • 5 O’ level credits including Mathematics & English in not more than 2 sittings/NABTEB/ Trade Test.
  • Fire safety training, state fire service, and HSE 1,2,3 will be an added advantage.

Experience:

  • At least 2 years of cognate experience.

The Person Must:

  • Have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Be physically fit and able to perform firefighting duties.
  • Be able to pay attention to details and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Have strong knowledge of fire prevention and firefighting techniques.
  • Have Excellent risk assessment and hazard identification skills.
