Job Position: Head of Recovery

Job Location: Lagos

Job Summary

• The Head of Recovery is responsible for shaping and executing Moniepoint's loan recovery strategy, ensuring minimal credit losses by optimizing the effectiveness and efficiency of the recovery unit. 
• In this role, you will develop and implement recovery strategies, design the recovery organization, and recruit top talent. A data-driven approach will be essential in evaluating the effectiveness of both strategies and personnel.
• Additionally, you will engage with external stakeholders, including law enforcement and legal firms, as needed, and establish a streamlined process to maximize the recovery of delinquent and non-performing loans. 
• This position demands extensive experience in recovery and credit risk, strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills, leadership, data-driven decision-making, and a commitment to high ethical standards.

Job Purpose

• Develop and execute recovery strategies to reduce non-performing loans and bad debt provisions.
• Design the recovery organisation and supervise the hiring process for recovery talent.
• Optimise the effectiveness of the recovery team by setting clear objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Continuously provide training to the recovery network in alignment with established recovery strategies and industry best practices.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key external partners including law enforcement, legal firms etc.
• Report on recovery performance and provide insights to senior management.
• Work closely with legal teams on litigation and enforcement proceedings.
• Collaborate with internal departments such as credit, legal, risk, and finance to align recovery efforts.

Responsibilities

• A minimum of a B.Sc/H.ND in any business related discipline
• At least 10 years of experience in credit recovery, debt collection, or risk management within the banking sector in Nigeria
• Strong network of legal and law enforcement contacts across the country
• Proven experience in leading a recovery team and managing high-value non-performing loans
• Proven experience in handling recovery in each of the 6 geo-political zones in Nigeria
• Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret financial data
