Human Resource Officer (Emergency WASH and MPCA Project) Job at Relief Rescue Initiative (RRI)


Relief Rescue Initiative (RRI) is a National Non-governmental organization, which is committed and active in community humanitarian and developmental projects with its presence in Borno, Adamawa, Benue, Yobe and Jigawa States. The primary focus of RRI is on improving and alleviating the problems of the less privileged, deprived, vulnerable group and people affected by armed conflicts and other Natural/Man made disasters in their struggle to obtain a life of justice and dignity. Areas of focus include; food security and livelihood, Nutrition, Protection, Education, Water sanitation and hygiene (WASH), Metal health, and psychosocial support (MHPSS) achieved through the implementation of projects targeted at the community level especially on the most vulnerable members of the community.

In line with its focus, RRI will be implementing WASH and Multipurpose Cash Assistance in Jigawa States In partnership with IOM-RRF Project. This is aimed at preventing already vulnerable House Holds from falling into starvation, malnutrition and diseases.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Position: Human Resource Officer (Emergency WASH and MPCA Project)
Job Location: Jahun, Miga, Kirikasama, Buji and Gwaram LGAs - Jigawa
Employment Type: Contract
Duration: 3 months
Reporting to: Head of programs
Slot: 1 position

Role and Responsibilities

  • The purpose of the Human officer position is the day to day implementation of the support functions responsibilities. Use actions words such as ensure, implement or assist for the position relevant responsibilities.

General Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence with RRI policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  • Implement delegated support function portfolio according to plan of action
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  • Ensure proper filing of documents
  • Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with RRI policies and the local labour law in all procedures and processes
  • Be a focal point person in the recruitment, contracting, induction and placement activities and support field offices in recruitment when needed
  • Advice and support line manager in the recruitment and selection processes
  • Ensure that all new staffs have filled ID forms and make sure every staff has the organization ID card.
  • Follow up the pension forms to be filled; have one copy for personal files; submit the forms to Pension Office; collect pension ID cards from the office; and give the ID card after getting signed by the respective staff
  • Ensure that staff records are up to date and filed appropriately
  • Prepare internship, incentive and casual staff contracts
  • Update the weekly recruitment tracking sheet and share to the concerned staff
  • Ensure that incentive and casual staff records are up to date and filed appropriately
  • Implement and train staff in RRI Incentive and Causal staff policies and procedures at the office
  • Ensure wellbeing and safety of all personnel and implementation of duty of care policy.

Additional Assignments

  • Update active staff personnel file as per the organization standard
  • Keep recording of the outgoing and incoming HR letters and staff contracts in the individual files
  • Scan or photocopy of different HR & Admin documents for softcopy records
  • Organize the documentation room properly
  • Organize folders with new employees as listed in HR in-processing checklist.
  • Check monthly time sheets

Generic Professional Competencies

  • B.Sc. Degree in Human Resources Management / Management
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in Human Resourcesin NGO settings
  • Experience from working as a Support Function Officer in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Good knowledge of English and Hausa Languages.
