We are currently focused on Nigeria's Agricultural sector.

Over the last 5 years, we have hosted a number of Agricultural Investment Conferences in strategic cities around the world including; Luxembourg , Accra, Lagos, Abuja, Frankfurt, Belgium, The Netherlands, and London. These opportunities have provided us with brand recognition, a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with investing in Africa's Agricultural sector, as well as a rich network inclusive of Africa's Agribusiness stakeholders, investment and finance executives, leading fund managers, private equity firms, family offices, institutional investors donors as well as large agribusiness related firms from around the world.

We are recruiting to fill the following position below:

1.) Research & Policy Lead

Job Location: Abuja

Job Summary

• This is a key role within Welcome2Africa International’s research and policy team. You will be responsible for leading, managing and delivering high profile research and development work, and supporting colleagues within the organisation to do the same.
• You are likely to have been a Principal Investigator on medium to large-scale research projects and you are dedicated to very high-quality research. You will enjoy the challenge of managing teams on complicated projects with many moving parts. You will have a strong practical understanding of both quantitative and qualitative evaluation design and analysis techniques.

Job Description

• Responsible for the overall development and implement of W2A’s research and policy department, this includes business development/client generation activities
• Collaborate with key private sector players and relevant stakeholders to develop logical frameworks for the production of research and policy outputs around Investments and Trade in Nigeria and beyond.
• Conduct feasibility studies on behalf of investors and give advisory services where needed.
• Support in the recruitment of personnel for research department
• Work with the program manager, investment analyst, communications lead in the design, implementation and management of Welcome2Africa International programs, identify opportunities for new initiatives or program expansion towards
• achieving the organization's vision and mission.
• Working and contributing to other departments namely, growth, programs, and investments and trade. Support in the development of W2A website, including fact sheets, issue briefs, data briefs, infographics, blog posts, and reports, as well as drafting components of peer-reviewed publications.
• Assess the scope of research projects and ensure they are on time and within the budget.
• Determine areas of research to increase knowledge as well as revenue generation in various sectors.
• Coordinating policy implementation and review.
• Work with the program manager, investment analyst, communications lead in the design, implementation and management of Welcome2Africa International programs, identify opportunities for new initiatives or program expansion towards achieving the organizations vision and mission.

Job Requirements

• Master's in a quantitative discipline from a top university. Other relevant trainings and certifications are required.
• Ability to manage budgets and ensure cost-efficient and timely implementation; and
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to understand client needs.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint);
• Strong sense of urgency to complete tasks.
• High attention to detail.
• Mentoring and coaching experience and the ability to lead research teams;
• Demonstrated ability to manage large and time-bound research;
• Willingness to travel and support field teams where necessary;

Job Responsibilities

• Write and edit content in a variety of formats, from product literature and presentations to thought leadership papers, press articles and corporate messaging, for traditional and digital media.
• Writing/editing marketing and thought leadership content for a variety of formats, to engage and inspire the Private Bank’s clients and prospects globally.
• Covering topics such as sustainability, investments, financial market trends and philanthropy, agro-commodity investments, maritime investment, trade potentials, while targeting investors, family offices and donor agencies.
• Develop an outline for the report based on the analysis and research objective
• Write reports on various topics related to the agricultural and maritime sector in Nigeria and other African countries
• Edit and proofread reports to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency
• Conduct research on the agricultural and maritime sector in Nigeria and other African countries
• Gather data from various sources such as academic journals, industry reports, and credible websites
• Analyze data to identify patterns, trends, and significant findings using statistical tools and software
• Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure that research reports meet the needs of clients and stakeholders

Job Requirements

• Interested candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in relevant fields with 2 - 7 years of work experience.
• Investment writing with experience in writing on a wide range of investment products, services and asset classes for institutional, intermediary and retail investors.
• Strong conceptual thinking to create relevant advocacy materials for projects and activities with innovative elements.
• Must be reliable and able to meet all deliverable deadlines
• Must work well in a team/collaborative environment
• Ability to plan, anticipate requirements, problems and obstacles, juggle competing priorities successfully, and work to tight deadlines with a high degree of autonomy

Job Description

• Gets involved in writing Conference proposals and creating the actual shape and content of the event itself, so meticulous research and planning is central to the role.
• Attracting relevant speakers and building relationships with industry people in order to be constantly aware of the burning topics and influences that could potentially translate into a compelling, rewarding and successful Conference.
• Being able to accurately define the event's target audience and create communications material that will appeal to them and instigate a desire to attend.
• Be in regular contact with sponsors and potential sponsors, providing them with regular updates and opportunities where they may be able to get involved.
• Report to senior management in order that they may be presented with a top line summation of the event's practical and commercial progress.
• Liaise with the Admin team for all logistical aspects of the event, the venue, catering etc
• Research the commercial viability of an event and then to write an exciting, market driven conference agenda and invite the best speakers possible.
• Analyse data and feedback to determine how successful the event was.

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years in organising international and local events and conferences
• Relevant experience of undertaking marketing and corporate communications work.
