United Geophysical (Nigeria) Limited is Nigeria's oldest oil service company having began operations in the western Niger Delta in the early 1960’s and incorporated as a limited liability company in 1971. The company has over 50 years of continuous operations specialising in land and swamp 2D, 3D and 4D seismic data acquisition and has conducted seismic surveys for all the major oil companies operating in Nigeria.

We are recruiting to fill the following positions below:

1.) Chef

Job Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Brief


  • As a Chef, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of food preparation, including menu planning, ingredient sourcing, cooking techniques, and presentation.
  • Your role involves leading and mentoring kitchen staff, ensuring food safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and develop menus based on seasonal ingredients, dietary preferences, and culinary trends.
  • Source high-quality ingredients from trusted suppliers and vendors.
  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes, ensuring consistency and adherence to recipes.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, sanitation guidelines, and food handling procedures.
  • Oversee inventory management, including stock rotation, ordering, and cost control.
  • Create and maintain kitchen schedules, staffing plans, and production schedules.
  • Train and supervise kitchen staff, including cooks, sous chefs, and line cooks.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to kitchen team members, ensuring efficient workflow.
  • Monitor food preparation processes to maintain quality, freshness, and food safety standards.
  • Collaborate with front-of-house staff to coordinate service timing and menu offerings.
  • Develop and implement culinary techniques, recipes, and plating presentations.
  • Stay informed about culinary trends, ingredients, and techniques through research and professional development.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, including equipment maintenance and sanitation.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Culinary degree or equivalent certification from a culinary school or institution.
  • Proven experience as a chef or in a similar culinary leadership role.
  • Creativity and innovation in menu development and food presentation.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle high-volume service periods.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to food quality and presentation.
  • Strong culinary skills and knowledge of cooking techniques, cuisines, and ingredients.
  • Leadership and management abilities, including team building and staff development.

2.) Positioning Manager

Job Locations: Akwa Ibom and Lagos

Job Description

  • United Geophysical (Nigeria) Limited is seeking to engage a Positioning Manager to manage our Navigation team.

Qualifications

  • A Degree in Surveying or related field
  • 5+ years’ experience in offshore oil & gas industry 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to optimized offshore operationally efficiency.
  • Candidate must be able to operate a variety of software’s for processing and navigation which includes  Hypack, Hydro-pro, Triggerfish, Orca or Gator
  • Candidate must understand technical responsibilities and field demands as a marine navigator
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Candidate must also understand technical demands of other associated departments.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Navigation systems.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.

3.) Marine Logistics Officer

Job Locations: Akwa Ibom and Lagos

Job Brief

  • We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Marine Logistics Officer to join our team.
  • The Maine Logistics Officer will be responsible for coordinating the marine transportation, storage of marine equipment, and distribution of goods.
  • This role requires strong logistical planning skills, the ability to multitask, and a focus on efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare shipping documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Movements & logistics involving marine vessels and associated activities.
  • Submit daily, weekly and monthly report of activities of the vessels and user departments in a format that makes efficiency visible and constructive.
  • Participate in Emergency Response Procedure as it relates to break down or accidents involving our vessels.
  • Liaise on behalf of the company with external parties who operates on water ways shared with the company during normal operations.
  • You negotiate with suppliers the best conditions to adopt
  • You monitor the progress of the shipment until final destination.
  • Liaise with other departments and the crew management on day to day requirements from the marine sector.
  • Participate in fuel management as it relates to marine operations.
  • Ensure there is effective communication between all company’s vessels and central control room.
  • Participate in Journey Management Procedure as it relates to marine operations.
  • Ensure safety of all vessels and personnel using all company vessels.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in logistics or supply chain roles.
  • Knowledge of Maritime laws and its governing bodies.
  • Knowledge of marine transportation regulations and international trade practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
