Job Position: Trainee Procurement Officer (Fluent Hausa Speaker)

Job Description

  • The Trainee Procurement Officer will support the procurement process of materials required for the factory's operations. 
  • This role involves actively engaging with suppliers, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of raw materials, particularly those used in plastic recycling. 
  • A strong ability to communicate in Hausa is essential to effectively engage suppliers in key regions.
  • This role is hands-on and will require visits to supplier locations and marketplaces to verify material quality, negotiate prices, and establish relationships, aligning with the dynamic nature of the company’s procurement process.

Responsibilities
Supplier Engagement and Relationship Management:

  • Identify and engage with suppliers of raw materials for plastic recycling.
  • Conduct supplier evaluations and ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Maintain positive relationships with key suppliers, particularly in Hausa-speaking regions.

Procurement Operations:

  • Actively participate in the sourcing and purchasing of raw materials.
  • Negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery schedules to optimize costs.
  • Visit marketplaces and supplier locations as necessary to verify material quality and availability.

Inventory Management:

  • Collaborate with the warehouse team to ensure adequate stock levels of raw materials.
  • Monitor inventory usage and provide timely reports to prevent stockouts.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Prepare procurement documentation, including purchase orders and contracts.
  • Maintain accurate records of transactions and supplier performance.
  • Generate and submit regular procurement activity reports to the management team.

Collaboration and Compliance:

  • Work closely with the factory team to understand material requirements.
  • Ensure procurement processes comply with company policies and relevant regulations.
  • Communicate with the Managing Director about market trends, risks, and opportunities.

Requirements

  • Language Skills: Fluency in Hausa is mandatory due to the business's operational regions.
  • Entry-level candidates or those with 1–2 years of relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Education: A minimum of an HND or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a procurement, logistics, or supply chain role within a manufacturing environment is an advantage.

Skills:

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and procurement software.
  • Ability to adapt to dynamic and fast-paced environments.
  • Willingness to travel frequently for supplier visits and procurement activities.
