Job Purpose


  • The Account Officer is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing financial transactions, and supporting the finance team in ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
  • The role provides timely and reliable financial information to aid management decision-making and ensure smooth financial operations of the company.

Roles and Responsibilities
Financial Record-Keeping & Documentation:

  • Record daily financial transactions accurately in the accounting system.
  • Prepare and process invoices, receipts, payment vouchers, and petty cash records.
  • Maintain updated ledgers, journals, and financial registers.
  • Ensure all supporting documents are properly filed and retrievable.

Cash & Bank Management:

  • Monitor daily cash inflows and outflows.
  • Ensure timely lodgment of cash and cheques into the bank.
  • Prepare bank reconciliation statements to track variances.
  • Assist in monitoring liquidity and reporting on cash positions.

Accounts Payable & Receivable:

  • Process supplier invoices and ensure timely payment of vendors.
  • Maintain updated records of customer accounts and outstanding receivables.
  • Follow up on overdue payments in line with credit control policies.
  • Support reconciliation of customer and vendor statements.

Financial Reporting & Analysis:

  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Support the preparation of budget drafts and variance analysis.
  • Provide accurate financial data to aid management decision-making.
  • Generate reports on expense tracking and cost control.

Compliance & Internal Controls:

  • Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures.
  • Assist with audit preparations and provide relevant documentation.
  • Support implementation of internal control systems to safeguard company assets.

Team Support & Collaboration:

  • Work closely with sales, procurement, and operations teams to validate financial transactions.
  • Support the Finance Manager in daily and periodic finance-related tasks.
  • Undertake any other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in accounting or finance (experience in pharmaceutical, agribusiness, or FMCG is an added Professional certification or ongoing ICAN/ACCA qualification is desirable.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP).
