Job purpose

  • We are seeking a young, vibrant, highly skilled and dedicated Account Officer to join our organization.
  • As an Account Officer, you will be responsible for managing financial transactions, and payments for our currency brokerage services in the financial industry in Nigeria.
  • An integral part of your job will be to maintain excellent relationships with bank account officers and ensure smooth trading operations and payment follow-ups.
  • The ideal candidate should have a strong background in finance, exceptional attention to detail, and excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Execute and manage financial transactions, including currency conversions, FX trades, and fixed income deals.
  • Ensure accuracy and promptness in executing transactions to meet clients' requirements and organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with the trading team to ensure seamless execution of currency swaps and provide necessary support for profitable outcomes.
  • Monitor payment processes, including tracking and reconciliation of trade-related payments.
  • Prepare regular reports on financial transactions, trade activities, and paymentstatuses.
  • Provide updates and insights to management, highlighting critical issues and proposing appropriate solutions.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by promptly addressing inquiries and resolving issues related to financial transactions.
  • Maintain accurate records of all transactions and payments.
  • Liaise with banks, and other relevant partiesto resolve any payment-related issues efficiently.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with bank account officers to facilitate smooth banking operations.
  • Proactively engage with bank representatives for account-related matters, including documentation, transaction approvals, and resolving issues.
  • Adhere to regulatory requirements and internal policies while executing financial transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and industry regulations, including KYC, AML, and other compliance standards.
  • Prepare and organize necessary documentation for audits, compliance checks, and internal reviews.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in the finance industry.
  • Professional certifications such as ACCA, ICAN, or CFA required.
  • Proven experience in financial services, preferably in currency brokerage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, bank officers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, currency conversions, and fixed-income dealing.
  • Knowledge of payment processing systems and deal settlement practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with numerical data accurately.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance standards.
