Job Position: Financial Officer
Job Location: Victoria Island, Lagos

Position Summary

  • The Financial Officer is responsible for overseeing the financial health of the organization by managing financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. This role ensures compliance with financial regulations, optimizes resource allocation, and provides strategic insights to support business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning and Analysis:

  • Develop and monitor budgets and forecasts to align with organizational goals.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost optimization.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders.

Accounting and Reporting:

  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in compliance with standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Generate periodic financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.

Treasury and Cash Management:

  • Monitor cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operations.
  • Oversee investment strategies and manage relationships with banks and financial institutions.
  • Negotiate loan agreements and manage debt financing.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure adherence to financial laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Coordinate audits and prepare necessary documentation for internal and external auditors.
  • Identifying financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.

Strategic Support:

  • Collaborate with leadership to evaluate financial performance and recommend improvements.
  • Participate in strategic planning and provide insights on financial implications of proposed initiatives.
  • Advise on financial implications of contracts, mergers, and acquisitions.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in financial management or a similar role.
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CFA, or ACCA are highly desirable.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of financial regulations and accounting standards.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams.
