Job Summary

  • Our client is seeking an Accountant who will be responsible for managing the financial records of the organization, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and providing insightful financial analysis to support the organization's operational and strategic decisions.

Responsibilities
Bookkeeping:


  • Recording day-to-day financial transactions, updating ledgers, and tracking cash flow.
  • Recording all financial transactions on Xero - Recording invoices, bills, cash receipts, and payments
  • Updating general ledgers - Tracking accounts payable and receivable
  • Reconciling accounts - Reconciling bank and credit card statements

Financial Reporting:

  • Preparing financial statements, regulatory documents, and compliance reports.
  • Income, cash flow statements
  • Completing monthly, quarterly and annual closings

Budgeting:

  • Monitoring budgets versus actual spending and performance.
  • Creating financial models and forecasts
  • Prepare and submit quarterly andannual budget

Tax Compliance:

  • Advising clients on current tax codes, deductions and preparing tax returns.
  • Calculating taxes owed
  • Work with auditors to complete LIRS Annual Tax returns for a fiscal year.
  • Ensure staff tax (PAYE) and Pension are remitted promptly.

Regulatory Adherence:

  • Providing guidance to management on financial strategy and business decisions
  • Ensuring compliance with accounting regulations ii.
  • Advising on relevant laws and standards

Administrative work:

  • Ensure timely processing of weekly petty cash and other requisitions. Liaise with Operations Director to raise weekly requisition.
  • Payment receipt - Liaise with Scholarship officer to issue receipt for all school fees payment
  • Work with the Operation officer to ensure prompt payment of utility bills and coordination of general maintenance (office and schools)
  • Staff salary - Liaise with the Operations Director to prepare monthly payroll for the staff.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience.
  • A Master’s degree is an advantage.
  • Professional certifications and affiliation with relevant Finance/Account bodies e.g. ICAN, ACCA, etc
  • Profound knowledge of accounting systems, software and practices

  • Financial acumen with experience in budgeting and financial reporting.
