We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Position: Architect
Job Location: Abuja (FCT)
Job Summary
- We are seeking a skilled and experienced Architect to join our team for building project site supervision services.
- The ideal candidate will have expertise in overseeing the architectural aspects of construction projects, ensuring design integrity, quality of work, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- The Architect will be responsible for monitoring construction progress, ensuring that the design is implemented correctly, and collaborating with the project team to resolve any issues that arise during construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the architectural aspects of the building project on-site, ensuring that construction adheres to the approved design, specifications, and quality standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor the progress of construction and ensure compliance with architectural drawings and design intent.
- Review and approve contractor submissions, including shop drawings, materials, and samples, ensuring they meet the project requirements.
- Ensure that the construction work is being executed in line with safety standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with the project manager, engineers, and contractors to address design and construction challenges, ensuring effective problem resolution.
- Provide technical guidance and architectural expertise to the project team, contractors, and other stakeholders during the construction phase.
- Attend site meetings, providing updates on design progress and offering solutions for any issues that may arise during construction.
- Ensure that the building project is completed on time and within budget, while maintaining high architectural and design standards.
- Approve construction work at key milestones, such as foundation, framing, and final inspections, to ensure compliance with architectural and design specifications.
- Review and manage any design changes or variations, ensuring they are documented and communicated appropriately.
- Maintain thorough and accurate records of site inspections, meeting notes, approvals, and any design changes or modifications during the construction phase.
- Assist in the preparation of project documentation, including reports, as-built drawings, and final handover documentation.
- Coordinate with other professionals (e.g., engineers, interior designers) to ensure the smooth integration of architectural elements with other building systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's / Master's Degree in Architecture.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in architectural design and site supervision, particularly for building projects.
- Registered Architect (preferably licensed with ARCON & NIA).
- Proven experience in supervising the construction of building projects, ensuring design integrity and compliance with regulations.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, construction standards, and regulations.
- Proficiency in architectural design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, etc.) and other construction-related tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with project teams, contractors, and clients.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address design and construction challenges.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Detail-oriented with a strong understanding of design, quality control, and construction processes.
