Job Position: Bridge Engineer

Job Location: Abuja

Job Summary


  • The Bridge Engineer will be responsible for the design, construction, and maintenance of bridge structures.
  • They will oversee all stages of bridge projects, from initial assessment and planning to final execution and inspection, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive bridge designs and plans, considering factors such as structural integrity, material specifications, and environmental impact.
  • Conduct site surveys and feasibility studies to assess the condition of existing bridges and determine the need for repairs or replacements.
  • Coordinate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless project execution, including collaboration with architects, surveyors, and construction contractors.
  • Perform structural analysis and calculations using relevant software and engineering principles to guarantee the stability and safety of bridge structures.
  • Conduct regular inspections and evaluations of completed bridge projects to verify compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in bridge engineering and construction methodologies to integrate innovative solutions into project designs.
  • Create detailed project reports, including cost estimates, material specifications, and construction timelines.
  • Monitor construction progress and provide technical guidance to construction teams, addressing any issues that may arise during the implementation phase.
  • Collaborate with government agencies and regulatory bodies to ensure adherence to legal requirements and obtain necessary permits for bridge construction and maintenance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in Hydraulic Hydrological engineering, civil and infrastructure works, and designs. (Experience working on mid to large-scale highway/railway projects is an added advantage
  • COREN Engineer license is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in bridge engineering, design, and construction.
  • Strong proficiency in structural analysis software, CAD tools, and MIDAS Civil.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry regulations and safety standards related to bridge construction.
