Job Description
- Are you a visionary economist passionate about driving sustainable development through data-driven insights and strategic policy influence?
- Our client is seeking an exceptional Chief Economist to lead economic research, guide policy formulation, and provide strategic direction that strengthens the institution’s impact and aligns with national development goals.
About the Role
- The Chief Economist will serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive leadership, providing critical economic intelligence that informs strategy, funding decisions, and policy engagement.
- You’ll lead research on macroeconomic trends, agricultural finance, and financial inclusion — ensuring that the institution remains economically resilient and strategically positioned to drive inclusive growth.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s Degree in Economics, Development Economics, Agricultural Economics, or a related field (PhD is an advantage).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in economic research, policy analysis, or consulting — ideally in the agricultural finance or development sectors.
- Strong background in macroeconomics, econometrics, and policy formulation.
- Demonstrated ability to provide actionable insights that drive institutional or national economic strategy.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Advanced econometric and financial modeling skills (Excel proficiency required).
- Expertise in agricultural economics, development finance, and financial inclusion policies.
- Strong communication and presentation abilities — especially with policy and regulatory audiences.
- Analytical mindset with high integrity, strategic thinking, and discretion.
- Proven ability to engage effectively with external partners, including government agencies and international financial institutions.
