Job Position: Director of Investments & Partnerships

Role Overview


  • ACO is seeking a strategic and dynamic Director of Investments & Partnerships to lead capital mobilization, cultivate high-value investor and donor relationships, and drive market expansion across Africa.
  • This role is instrumental in securing blended finance, structuring joint ventures, and positioning ACO as a trusted, bankable partner in the global energy transition space.

Key Responsibilities
Capital Strategy & Fundraising:

  • Design and execute capital-raising strategies across debt, equity, trade finance, and results-based financing (RBF) instruments.
  • Prepare and lead successful applications for donor grants and climate finance opportunities.
  • Oversee investor reporting, due diligence, and compliance processes.

Strategic Partnerships & Deal Structuring:

  • Build and manage long-term relationships with DFIs, impact investors, philanthropic funds, and climate finance entities.
  • Lead structuring and negotiation of joint ventures or co-investments for new business lines.
  • Maintain a dynamic investor CRM and ensure visibility on the investment pipeline.

Growth Strategy & Market Expansion:

  • Evaluate new markets and sectors aligned with ACO’s mission and financial sustainability.
  • Produce investment theses and sector deep-dives to support executive decision-making.
  • Identify and engage potential strategic partners for market entry and co-development.

Internal Enablement & Capacity Building:

  • Develop toolkits and templates for project finance models, investment proposals, and grant applications.
  • Support regional teams in preparing for capital raising, including training on investment readiness and structuring.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Finance, Engineering, and Operations to bring bankable projects to life.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Corporate Finance, Banking, Investments or related fields
  • Minimum of 8-12 years of experience in project finance, investment analysis or fund management.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with comfort in fast-paced and emerging market environments.
  • Willingness to travel across Africa as required.
