The Farm, Katsina Limited is an agricultural, flour and feed mill company that deals in livestock farming and other agro processess which includes cattle and poultry rearing and maize flour production.

Job Position: Electrical / Maintenance Engineer

Job Purpose

• The Electrical Engineer / Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and reliability of all electrical, mechanical, and utility systems across the Company’s Flour and Feed Mill, Dairy Processing Unit, and Livestock Unit.
• The role also provides overall leadership and management of the Maintenance Unit, ensuring minimal downtime, safety compliance, and optimal asset performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, operate, maintain, and repair electrical systems, panels, motors, generators, transformers, and control equipment.
• Ensure stable power supply and efficient utilization of generators, inverters, and alternative power systems.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical faults promptly to minimize production downtime.
• Maintain proper documentation of electrical layouts, wiring diagrams, and system specifications.
• Develop and implement a planned preventive maintenance (PPM) schedule for all equipment and facilities.
• Supervise maintenance technicians, electricians, and mechanicsacross all units.
• Allocate tasks, monitor performance, and provide technical guidance to the maintenance team.
• Ensure effective maintenance of:
  • Flour and feed milling equipment
  • Dairy processing machines
  • Livestock facilities and supporting infrastructure
• Coordinate repairs and servicing of production machinery to ensure continuous operations.
• Liaise with external service providers and equipment vendors when specialized repairs are required.
• Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, company policies, and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Enforce safe work practices and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Conduct routine safety inspections and risk assessments within maintenance operations.
• Oversee maintenance of utilities including water systems, boreholes, pumps, cold rooms, and waste systems.
• Ensure proper functioning of facility infrastructure, buildings, and installations.
• Prepare and manage maintenance budgets.
• Control maintenance costs while ensuring quality and reliability of repairs.
• Recommend cost-effective solutions and energy-saving initiatives.
• Prepare regular maintenance reports, including downtime analysis and equipment performance.
• Maintain records of repairs, servicing, spare parts usage, and asset condition.
• Provide technical input to management on equipment upgrades and capital projects.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree (B.Eng) in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in industrial, manufacturing, or agro-processing environments.
• Experience with milling plants, dairy processing, or livestock operations is an advantage.
