Job Brief


  • The Executive Director (ED) / Head, Business Development position requires an experienced, qualified, confident and a skilled professional who has good leadership qualities with capacity to act, fill in or deputises for the MD in taking charge of all aspects of a bank's operations and procedures.
  • The candidate is required to have held several jobs in a Microfinance Bank, and fully conversant with the guiding principles and regulatory guidelines associated with MFB operation in Nigeria.
  • The Executive Director must have the capacity to oversee the different department of the bank, pursue revenue drive, planning, organisation and control of the activities of the microfinance bank, to ensure continuous growth and profitability of the bank.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Provides support to the Managing Director to ensure that Company achieves its business objectives and creates an environment that promotes staff commitment to the achievement of the organisational vision, mission, and strategy
  • Set business goals and assigns targets to the employees and ensures that the employees are providing productive results for the Bank.
  • Develop strategies to boost sales and revenue (profits) of the bank and plan the future prospects of the Bank.
  • Assist in building the organisational structures and business teams to maximize business performance and productivity.
  • Lead the identification of target market segments and develop strategies for growth, ensure business compliance with company's policies, procedures and corporate governance expectations and supervise all heads of department to achieve efficient, productive, profitable loan and deposit portfolio growth in line with corporate strategy.

  • Timely and Accurate Financial Reporting.
  • Bank Branch Daily Operations.
  • Staff Motivation and Business Growth.
  • Full compliance to regulatory framework

Qualifications

  • B.Sc / B.A Degree in Banking, Accounting, Business Administration or relevant fields
  • Minimum of 10 years of work experience in the financial services industry (most especially microfinance institutions) of which 6 years should be in a senior management position.
  • M.Sc / M.A Degree will be added advantage
  • Must have an MCP certification and be a member of CIBN.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Nigerian financial services market.
  • Knowledge of MFB methodologies, corporate governance procedures and standards
  • Demonstrable experience in developing strategic and business plans
  • Strong understanding of corporate finance and measures of performance
  • Familiarity with corporate law and management best practices
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong leadership, supervisory, coaching, mentoring and people management skills.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills with an ability to engage with others to achieve positive results.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills with the ability to build rapport across various stakeholders and effectively communicate and interact with top level management.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism and confidentiality.
  • The ideal candidate will be a digitally savvy individual and a strategist/leader that is able to help steer the bank to the most profitable direction within the shortest possible time and should have interest implementing bank’s vision, mission and long term goals.
