Family Homes Funds Limited (FHFL) is a limited liability company with the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority as founding shareholders. FHFL will be the largest affordable housing focused fund manager in Sub- Sahara Africa, deploying capital in excess of N1trn towards two core objectives: (1) Supporting access to affordable housing for at least 500,000 families on low to medium income through strategic partnerships with various players in the sector and some of the world’s main Development Finance Institutions and (2) Take advantage of the opportunity a large-scale house building programme offers to create jobs, which are sustainable and offer families security, improved quality of life and hope.

Job Description

  • Support the Head of Internal Audit/Compliance in planning, executing, and reporting on operational, financial, regulatory, and compliance-related audits/reviews.
  • The Audit Associate will be part of the in-house auditing team to execute their day-to-day functions.

Specific Duties of the Position

  • Assist in the development and execution of the FHFL’s annual audit work plan
  • Assist with the preparation of audit programmes for scheduled units
  • Gather and analyse relevant data for evaluation of internal controls
  • Assist in reviewing the FHFL’’s transactions and operational procedures to evaluate the adequacy of internal controls and efficiency /effectiveness of operations.
  • Prepare reports based on documented findings from an audit of the FHFL’s transactions and operational procedures
  • Ensure identified control lapses are addressed as recommended in the audit reports
  • Conduct random and periodic petty cash, stores as delegated by the Head of Internal Audit/Compliance
  • Assist in performing periodic physical verification of the FHFL’s fixed assets and inventory
  • Provide necessary assistance to external auditors in the conduct of statutory audits
  • Prepare detailed reports on audit findings.
  • Report to management about asset utilization and audit results and recommend operations and financial activities changes
  • Collect and analyze data to detect deficient controls, duplicated effort, extravagance, fraud, or non-compliance with laws, regulations, and management policies.
  • Review accounting books and accounting systems for efficiency, effectiveness, and use of accepted accounting procedures and standards to record transactions.
  • Examine and evaluate financial and information systems, recommending controls to ensure system reliability and data integrity.
  • Audit payroll and personnel records to, provide assurance accuracy of computation and statutory deductions in compliance with tax and other relevant laws and regulations.
  • Perform investigation, specialized reviews and other duties as may be delegated by the Head of Internal Audit/Compliance.

Requirements

  • A University Degree in Accounting, Banking and Finance, or any other related discipline from a reputable University.
  • Master’s Degree in a related field will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in Auditing/Finance/ Accounting
  • Relevant professional qualifications e.g., ACA, ACCA
  • Good appreciation of IFRS Accounting Policies
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications, i.e., MS Word, Excel, ERP etc.
