Job Summary 


  • The Food Security Field Officer (Nutrition) supervises and reports all aspect of the WFP General Food Assistance project’s malnutrition prevention activities in the field.
  • He/She equally manages other associated malnutrition prevention activities at field location within the framework of the WFP project. He/She ensures all activities are done in line with the donor requirements, and these activities are achieved in a timely and efficient manner.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective implementation of the WFP malnutrition prevention activities
  • Effectively implement the WFP‘s Tom Brown activities
  • Ensure accurate, complete and up to date data are made available for the WFP malnutrition prevention activities.
  • Conducts malnutrition prevention awareness sessions, screening and tracking.
  • Develop and supervise an effective mother to mother support group
  • Conduct and supervises the project nutrition specific value adding activities (IYFC, Home gardening, food hygiene promotion, cooking demonstration etc)
  • Implement a social behavioral change communication strategy at the community level
  • Manages the activities of the Community Nutrition Mobilizers (CNMs)
  • Provision of technical assistance as well as supportive monitoring and evaluation of the WFP malnutrition prevention Program activities.
  • Supervises the WFP malnutrition prevention project activities efficiently and effectively.
  • Conduct monthly WFP malnutrition prevention food supplements redemption/distribution activity in the targeted location.
  • Provide technical support on the CMAM and IYCF program component of the project within the community.
  • Implement the WFP‘s Social Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC) activities
  • Provide malnutrition prevention training to community nutrition mobilizers
  • Presentation of monthly nutrition progress report
  • Preparation of Daily, Weekly & Monthly reports of the Tom Brown project activities.
  • Attends relevant Local Coordination Sector Meeting

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 2 years of working experience in similar role in a humanitarian settings
  • Work within the framework of IINTERSOS Nigeria’s core values.
  • Act as an ambassador for INTERSOS Nigeria, through professionalism and conduct.
  • Adhere to all INTERSOS policies and procedures both technical and administrational.
  • Undertake and apply learning from appropriate training and development programmes.
  • Maintain and care for all equipment issued by INTERSOS Nigeria and for any losses or damages due to negligence you will be liable for repair or replacement.
