The Newspaper Proprietors' Association of Nigeria or NPAN is a professional body concerned with the regulation of journalism in Nigeria. One of its major functions, is to investigate complaints against the press from the public and also to investigate complaints from the press about the conduct of people or organizations towards the press. NPAN acts as a buffer between the press and the public.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Summary 


  • We seek an exceptional leader to drive NPAN’s mission of fostering industry research and innovation, building capacity and partnerships, and safeguarding press freedom. 
  • The ideal candidate will combine strategic vision with hands-on experience in media advocacy and member-centric leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Direction: Develop and execute initiatives addressing digital transformation, revenue diversification, and industry sustainability.
  • Policy Leadership: Advocate for legislation protecting press freedom and improving operating environments for publishers.
  • Financial Stewardship: Ensure NPAN’s fiscal health while creating revenue-generating programs for members.
  • Member Empowerment: Deliver training, resources, and collaborative platforms to enhance circulation and advertising performance.
  • Standards Champion: Promote best practices in journalism ethics, business management, and technological adaptation.

Requirements

  • Industry Expertise: 10+ years in journalism, newspaper publishing, or media management, with a deep understanding of Nigeria’s media landscape.
  • Advocacy Prowess: Demonstrated success in public policy engagement, government relations, and regulatory advocacy.
  • Leadership Credentials: Track record of managing teams, budgets, and multi-stakeholder initiatives.
  • Educational Edge: An advanced degree in journalism, communications, law, business administration, or related fields is preferred.
  • Data & New Media Literacy: Experience in research, data analysis, especially industry trends, literacy in new media, and the ability to network are highly valued.
