Job Summary


  • The Head of Human Resources will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources practices and processes within the hotel. This role involves leading the HR department to ensure that the organization attracts, develops, and retains top talent while fostering a positive and productive work environment. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of the hospitality industry, particularly in the context of a 4-star establishment.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership:

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the hotel’s business objectives.
  • Collaborate with senior management to forecast HR needs and devise plans for workforce planning, succession planning, and talent management.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and overall workplace culture.
  • Leads the assessment of property(s) leadership pipeline through the human capital review process and assists with follow-up.
  • Creates value through proactive approaches that will affect performance outcomes or control costs.

Talent Acquisition and Management:

  • Analyzes open positions to balance the development of existing talent and business needs.
  • Develop and implement onboarding programs to integrate new employees effectively.
  • Lead performance management processes, including setting objectives, performance appraisals, and providing constructive feedback.

Employee Relations:

  • Foster a positive work environment by addressing employee grievances, mediating conflicts, and ensuring fair treatment of all staff.
  • Ensure compliance with local labor laws and hotel policies, updating policies as necessary.
  • Implement programs to recognize and reward high-performing employees, promoting a culture of excellence.

Training and Development:

  • Identify training needs and develop programs to enhance employee skills and career development.
  • Oversee the creation and delivery of training programs, including compliance, customer service, and leadership development.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of training programs and make adjustments as needed.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Design and manage competitive compensation and benefits programs to attract and retain talent such as health insurance and other perks.
  • Regularly review and update salary structures, incentive programs, and employee benefits to remain competitive in the market.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing in collaboration with the finance department.

HR Operations:

  • Oversee the maintenance of employee records, HRIS, and other administrative HR functions.
  • Manage the HR budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to support HR initiatives.
  • Implement and monitor HR metrics to assess the effectiveness of HR practices and make data-driven decisions.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure the hotel’s compliance with all relevant labor laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Promote a safe and healthy work environment, overseeing health and safety programs, and ensuring all staff adhere to safety protocols.
  • Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to maintain a secure workplace.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree or HR certification (e.g., CIPM, SHRM, CIPD) is preferred.
  • 10 - 20 years of work experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, preferably within the hospitality industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices, particularly in the hospitality sector.
  • Proven experience in strategic HR management, talent acquisition, employee relations, and training and development.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in HR software and systems (HRIS).
