Efezi Southsea Nigeria Limited, established in 2009, is a hospitality consultancy firm specializing in providing expert services to small and medium-sized hotels.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Position: Hotel Accountant
Job Location: Lekki, Lagos
Summary
- The Hotel Accountant is responsible for managing the hotel’s financial transactions, ensuring accuracy in record keeping, compliance with accounting standards, and supporting management with timely financial reports for effective decision-making.
- The role involves overseeing daily income and expenditure, preparing budgets, reconciling accounts, and maintaining overall financial health of the hotel.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements and reports (daily, weekly, monthly).
- Track and reconcile all hotel revenues and expenses.
- Analyze financial performance and provide management with insights and recommendations.
- Ensure timely preparation of profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Record and monitor all payments to suppliers, contractors, and service providers.
- Track receivables from guests, corporate clients, and travel agencies.
- Ensure proper invoicing and follow-up for payments.
- Verify and reconcile supplier invoices with purchase orders and delivery notes.
Payroll & Staff Payments:
- Prepare monthly payroll, including salaries, bonuses, and statutory deductions (PAYE, pension, NHF, etc.).
- Maintain accurate employee payment records and handle related documentation.
Internal Control & Compliance:
- Implement and monitor internal control systems to prevent fraud and errors.
- Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, hotel financial policies, and statutory requirements.
- Liaise with auditors, tax authorities, and external consultants when necessary.
Cash Flow & Bank Reconciliation:
- Monitor daily cash flow and ensure adequate liquidity for operations.
- Perform daily bank reconciliations and verify deposits.
- Manage petty cash and maintain accurate records of cash transactions.
Budgeting & Cost Control:
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor departmental spending and help maintain cost efficiency.
- Identify areas of financial waste and recommend corrective actions.
Qualifications
- Minimum of OND / HND / BSc in Accounting, Finance, or related fields
- Minimum of 4 - 6 years of experience in hotel or hospitality accounting
- Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) is an advantage.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Excel, or hotel PMS)
- Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Integrity, confidentiality, and ability to meet deadlines.
