Benin Electricity Distribution Plc (BEDC) is responsible for retail distribution of electricity in Delta, Edo, Ekiti, and Ondo States with geographical coverage of 55,770 square kilometers. The company operates from twenty five (25) business districts with approximately 350 offices located across the four (4) states with about 13 million people and about 4 million households.

Job Position: Human Resource Business Partner 


Job Locations: Benin South, Benin North - Edo; Sapele, Warri - Delta; Ekiti, and Akure - Ondo
Job Grade: Senior Executive Officer
Department: Human Capital Management
Supervision Received: Head, Human Capital Management
Supervision Exercised: Executive Officers

General Responsibilities

  • The HRBP serves as a strategic partner to the business, working closely with senior leaders to develop and implement HR strategies that support the overall goals of the organization.

Activities:

  • Work with senior leaders to understand the business goals and develop HR strategies to support them.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, providing guidance on HR policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Manage employee relations issues, including conducting investigations and recommending appropriate actions.
  • Develop and implement employee engagement and retention strategies.
  • Analyze HR metrics and data to identify trends and develop recommendations for improvement.
  • Partner with the talent acquisition team to ensure a strong pipeline of candidates and a positive candidate experience.
  • Develop and implement performance management programs to ensure a high-performing culture.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to support the development of managers and employees.
  • Ensure compliance with all HR laws and regulations.

Accountabilities

  • Strategic Partner: Work closely with the senior leadership team and business unit leaders to understand the business goals and objectives and develop HR strategies that align with them.
  • Talent Management: Develop and implement talent management strategies to ensure the organization has the necessary skills and capabilities to meet its goals. This includes talent acquisition, employee development, career planning, and succession planning.
  • Change Management: Support change initiatives by providing HR expertise and guidance to the organization. This includes developing communication plans, managing resistance, and facilitating the adoption of new behaviours and practices.
  • HR Operations: Ensure HR operations are effective and efficient, including HR systems, processes, and programs. This includes managing compliance with HR laws and regulations.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze HR data and develop reports to identify trends and provide insights to senior leaders. Use data to inform HR strategies and decisions.
  • Performance Management: Develop and implement performance management programs that support a high-performing culture. This includes setting goals, providing feedback and coaching, and managing performance issues.
  • Employee Relations: Manage employee relations issues and provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Context: HRBP requires strong collaboration skills, adaptability, a customer service orientation, and a data-driven approach to HR. The job exists in an Electricity Distribution Company.

Qualifications / Experience / Skills
Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or a related field.

Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience as an HRBP or related role.
  • Strong knowledge of HR laws and regulations.

Skills:

  • Collaboration: Must build strong relationships and work effectively with others to achieve HR goals.
  • Fast-paced: Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and work efficiently to achieve goals.
  • Changing landscape: Ability to keep up with changes in regulations, technologies, and best practices. This requires ongoing learning and development to stay up to date with trends and changes in the field.
  • Adaptable: Ability to work effectively in a variety of situations, navigate ambiguity, work with incomplete information, and be flexible in their approach.
  • Customer service orientation: Must have a customer service orientation and be able to provide high-quality HR services to managers and employees in a responsive, accessible, and providing timely and effective support.
  • Data-driven: Ability to use analytics to inform HR strategies and decisions.
