Umba Inc has recently acquired a 100% stake in a Microfinance Bank in Nigeria following an approval in principal from the CBN and is now going through the formal approval process to commence operations as new digital bank. Operations are expected to commence in quarter three 2022.

Job Position: Frontend Engineer

Job Description

  • We are looking for a Front-End Engineer to join our team in our Nigeria office to build rich single page web applications for our customers using the latest JavaScript technologies including React, HTML, CSS.
  • Responsibilities will include joining an agile team of designers, product owners, back-end and front-end engineers in rapid agile sprints to help Umba bring our leading end-user experience from mobile to the web.  
  • The ideal candidate will be able to communicate effectively, work well with a globally distributed team, have experience in modern JavaScript frameworks, pay strong attention to detail, be able to work independently and have passion for customer success.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain rich web applications for both internal and external clients using React, Java Script, HTML, CSS and the latest set of tools in the JavaScript ecosystem.
  • Deliver features, functions and look and feel accurately according to specifications.
  • Develop tests using frameworks such as cypress and generate test coverage reports.
  • Work closely with designers, back end developers, QA and subject matter experts to deliver a high-quality product.
  • Provide accurate estimates and deliver quality features on-time. 

Skills and Qualifications

  • 3 years of web development experience using a modern Java Script framework building live consumer applications required.
  • Proficiency in HTML, Java Script and CSS required.
  • 3 years of experience with React Java Script framework preferred.
  • Experience with design platforms such as Figma preferred.
  • Experience working within an agile team is preferred.

Job Position: Financial Accountant

Job Location: Lagos

Job Description

  • The Financial Accountant is a role reporting to the Finance Manager.
  • This position is responsible for supporting the Finance function to manage all finance, Accounting, Tax, Regulatory reporting and Treasury activities for the Bank.
  • The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring accurate accounting data is captured, investigations for variances are carried out and closed on time, management accounts are generated, daily reconciliations are done and statutory reports are prepared on time for approval by the Finance Manager for forwarding to the Central Bank among other responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all trade payables and receivables by ensuring the appropriate payments are processed within the prudential timelines and receivables are pursued and collected within the agreed period.
  • Process invoices
  • Ensure all transactions that are done off the Core Banking System are booked in the Accounting system.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
  • Reconciliation of bank statements and failed transactions both in the Core Banking System and the Accounting system
  • Participate in financial audits.
  • Participate in the annual budget process, forecasting and all other financial planning exercises in consultation with the Finance Manager.
  • Prepare all financial related regulatory returns in a timely manner on time for approval by Finance manager before forwarding to the Central Bank of Nigeria.
  • Responsible for timely preparation of tax reports
  • Participation in considering and inputting assumptions in the IFRS model and ensuring they are current and appropriate and that the outputs are accurate.
  • Monitoring all regulatory financial ratios and escalating any adverse trend on any ratio to the Finance Manager to alert the management team for appropriate action.
  • Ensure all crucial financial administrative records are archived and are accessible in case of need.
  • Manage payroll and ensure staff salaries are processed on a timely manner reflecting all pre-payroll changes and ensure all statutory deductions are remitted to the respective agencies.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Economics, Business or any other relevant field.
  • Must have banking experience
  • Minimum of 3 year experience in a similar role, in a regulated financial institution.
  • Professional qualification in Accounting
  • Member of a professional body
  • Must have a good grasp of the CBN Microfinance Banking Guidelines.

Job Position: Marketing Manager

Responsibilities

  • Report’s directly to the CFO
  • Work with digital advertisers to hit targets such as Installs, CPI's, accounts created while keeping to a monthly marketing budget
  • Own end-to-end marketing campaigns development and management through traditional and alternative user acquisition paths
  • Work with Product to understand messaging and create content that resonates with our audience
  • Work with management to refine brand and go to market strategy
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders in cross-functional teams to ensure the successful launch, execution, and measurement of campaigns
  • Analyze the results of campaigns and strategic marketing activities and present key findings and areas for improvement to stakeholders
  • Assume responsibility of Umba Growth KPI’s with a direct line to management
  • Explore partnerships and new business opportunities to drive user growth in the business outside of digital advertising channels
  • Manage content produced (Social channels, drip and blast campaigns) and collaborate with management to improve our value propositions and overall marketing strategy
  • Manage and refine the organization’s social media presence
  • Use data to identify new opportunities for improvement and growth.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience managing a small dynamic marketing function
  • Experience developing and implementing branding and marketing strategies
  • Passion for providing analysis and finding actionable marketing insights
  • Deep understanding of mobile marketing digital fundamentals specifically in attribution, tracking, optimization, and experimentation
  • Understanding of the nuances and metrics important to mid and low funnel conversions.

Required skills:

  • Experience in acquisition strategy (search, social, organic) in the mobile app space - either through an internal team or having worked w/ an agency closely
  • Experience in forecasting, planning, and performance analysis - someone who makes data-driven decisions
  • Has had at least some experience or exposure in other areas of marketing besides digital - either in product marketing, branding, or communications. T
  • Startup mentality - willingness to do a bit of everything
  • 5+ years experience working as a member of a dynamic marketing team
  • Data-driven analysis mindset - experience with BI tools.
