AMSCO Advisory Services Nigeria Limited - Our client, an international infrastructure engineering company, with 100,000+ projects, in 55+ countries, and 90+years of impact, is recruiting to fill the following positions below:
1.) Mechanical Engineer (Dams and Hydropower)
Job Location: Lagos
Responsibilities
- Lead Hydropower design and studies ranging from feasibility studies to detailed designs.
- Review hydropower and dam designs and costing.
- Lead digital innovations within the hydropower and dams space to make the delivery of projects more efficient.
- Project management of dams and hydropower projects.
- Review hydropower energy yield calculations.
- Business Development for hydropower and dams.
- Integrate and collaborate with other business units within the company to enable the implementation of hydropower and dams projects.
- Travel to site and clients throughout Sub-Saharan Africa as required.
Minimum Requirements
- MSc (Preferred) / BSc or MEng (Preferred) /BEng in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in Hydropower Engineering.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (PrEng) with ECSA (Required).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
2.) Primary Plant Design Engineer
Job Location: Lagos
Responsibilities
- Substation Primary Plant design (Develop SLD, GA, Sections, EarthGrid, Trenches and Conduit layout).
- Earthing design in CDEGS.
- Underground cable design in CYMCAP.
- Compile BOMs.
- Basic Renewable energy design experience.
- Overhead line design in PLS-CADD will be a bonus.
- Compile reports and engineering calculations.
- Interpret standards and implement calculation formulas in excel.
- Lighting design in Dialux.
- Basic LV and Secondary Plant experience will be a bonus.
Minimum Requirements
- B.Eng or B.Sc or B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.
- 3 years of relevant substation primary plant design experience in voltage levels up to 132kV or above
- CDEGS, CYMCAP, MATHCAD, PLS-CADD experience will be advantageous.
- Basic Microstation/Autocad skills
- Wide range of general knowledge of electrical engineering.
3.) Structural Engineer (Dams & Hydropower)
Job Location: Lagos
Description
- Our client is currently recruiting structural engineers with extensive experience in Dam, Hydropower, and Water Hydraulics domains.
- The particular need for this role is for a person who has an aptitude to assist in the strategic growth of the water business (i.e. business development and work winning); has technical skills in the structural designs of Dams, Hydraulic structures; Commercial acumen; coordination of Civil, Mechanical and Electrical disciplines in the Dam and Hydropower industries; extensive knowledge in project management; as well as reporting and stakeholder liaison on the full suite of project matters.
Responsibilities
- Perform highly complex structural engineering designs, calculations, and analysis of dams as and hydropower plants and pump stations [specifically water retaining structures, intake structures, pipelines, and reservoirs, with key contributions on 3D models, technical drawings and details].
- Assist in preparing and coordinating tenders/bids and contribute to winning work initiatives.
- Contractual and commercial acumen and assist in the management of construction contracts.
- Lead and coordinate small, medium, and integrated projects including management of delivery teams, and reporting on budgets and schedules, and maintaining team morale.
- Resolve project level issues independently.
- Mentor junior engineers, project managers/coordinators.
- Ensure timely delivery of projects, within scope and budget.
- Establish a clear understanding of the project goals and stakeholder expectations, specifically, managing client expectations and ensuring that delivery meets expectations.
- Support business development activities.
- Produce other key deliverables on projects, such as technical reports, specifications, and bills of quantities.
- Establish initial project schedules and regularly maintain project schedules.
- Act as senior project-level point of contact for clients.
- Motivate the project team towards the determined objectives, by generating enthusiasm for the project, and by maintaining a continued personal interest in achieving set targets.
Minimum Requirements
- MSc (Preferred) / MEng (Preferred) / BEng in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional registration with ECSA (Mandatory).
- Minimum of at least 10 to 20 years of water retaining structure-related experience which includes but is not limited to Dam related structures, Hydropower and pump stations, Reservoirs, water treatment plants, and a good understanding of geotechnical engineering.
- Proficiency in the following design software; Finite Element Analysis, AutoCAD, Civil 3D(Advantageous), MS Projects and strong MS Excel ability.
- Full-time construction-related experience in water engineering projects (minimum period of one year) will be an advantage.
- Experience as a project manager in the client space (as the client’s representative or representing the consultant at the client) will be an advantage.
- Willing to travel for projects (local and international).
