WhoGoHost was founded in 2007 by Opeyemi Awoyemi, then a student of Obafemi Awolowo University, to serve clients of his web design firm ennovateNIGERIA who also needed hosting for their websites. WhoGoHost was then simply a reseller that provided hosting services to customers, allowing them to pay in local currency.
WhoGoHost is currently the largest web hosting company in Nigeria and the West African region. The company started as a web hosting firm but has grown to offer a lot of other products and services to help her customers grow and succeed online. We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Position: Legal Officer
Job Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Purpose
- The Legal Officer shall oversee the legal aspects of our business.
- You will safeguard our reputation by guaranteeing that the company strictly follows law guidelines and give legal advice to management about all relevant issues.
- The successful candidate will effectively ensure legal conformity and minimise probability of exposure.
Job Duties
- Administration
- Give accurate and timely counsel to executives in a variety of legal topics (labour law, partnerships, international ventures, corporate finance etc.)
- Collaborate with management to devise efficient defence strategies
- Draft and solidify agreements, contracts and other legal documents to ensure the company’s full legal rights in a timely manner.
- Deal with complex matters with multiple stakeholders and forces
- Provide clarification on legal language or specifications to employees in the organization
- Conduct your work with integrity and responsibility
- Maintain current knowledge of alterations in legislation
- Specify internal governance policies and regularly monitor compliance
- Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations
- Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advise on possible legal issues
- Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authority etc.), creating relations of trust
- Any other task as assigned by the Head of Department
- Conducting regular legal risk assessments, including analysis of emerging laws and regulations
- Collaborate with external auditors, investigators, legal team
Person Specification & Additional Requirements
- B.Sc Degree in Law
- At least 3 years of proven experience as a Legal Counsel in business/Tech environment
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures
- Registered as a CAC agent is an added advantage
- Full comprehension of the influences of the external environment of a corporation
- Demonstrated ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategies
- Versatile abilities and extreme dedication to efficient productivity
- Proficient in the use of Google Workspace And ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning)
- Exceptional leadership and time, task, and resource management skills.
- High degree of professional ethics and integrity
- Sound judgement and ability to analyse situations and information
- Outstanding communication skills
- Ability to plan for and keep track of multiple projects and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and people management skills are compulsory.
