Intersex Nigeria (Center for Healthcare Development and Youth Empowerment) is an intersex-led and focused Non-Governmental Organization in Nigeria. We promote and advocate for the sexual reproductive health, self-determination, bodily autonomy, and overall human rights of intersex people in all diversity in Nigeria. Through community building, advocacy, evidence-based research, empowerment, educational and informational resources on intersex-related issues to the public, partners, stakeholders, and our community.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Position: Media and Content Officer
Job Location: Lagos, Nigeria
Job type: Full-time (Hybrid)
Reports to: Communication Strategist and Program Manager
About the Position
- The Media and Content Officer will play a vital role in supporting the organization’s Communication strategist in creating engaging content, and amplifying Intersex Nigeria mission and activities through various media platforms.
- This role involves storytelling, public engagement, and strategic communication to build awareness, attract donors, and engage stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation and Management:
- Content Development: Create high-quality written, visual, and multimedia content (e.g., articles, blogs, videos, infographics) to showcase Intersex Nigeria’s mission, programs, and impact.
- Social Media Management: Manage the Intersex Nigeria’s presence on platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube by creating and scheduling posts, responding to comments, and engaging with the audience.
- Storytelling: Craft compelling narratives around beneficiaries, projects, and success stories to evoke empathy and drive support.
- Website Management: Update and maintain the Organization’s website with fresh, relevant, and impactful content.
Media Relations:
- Press Releases: Write and distribute press releases to announce events, achievements, or key developments.
- Media Outreach: Build and maintain relationships with journalists etc to secure media coverage for Intersex Nigeria’s work.
- Event Coverage: Ensure appropriate media presence and coverage for key events and activities.
Campaigns and Advocacy:
- Awareness Campaigns: Support design and execute media campaigns to promote the Intersex Nigeria’s initiatives, causes, or events.
- Advocacy Materials: Develop brochures, newsletters, reports, and other advocacy materials to inform and inspire stakeholders.
- Call-to-Action Campaigns: Create content that drives donations, volunteer sign-ups, or policy advocacy.
Branding and Identity:
- Brand Guidelines: Ensure consistency in messaging and visual branding across all media and content.
- Messaging Strategy: Develop key messages that align with the Intersex Nigeria’s mission and target audience.
- Crisis Communication: Manage the Intersex Nigeria’s reputation or public relations challenges.
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Analytics and Metrics: Track the performance of media campaigns and content using tools like Google Analytics, social media insights, and other metrics.
- Impact Reporting: Create reports on communication activities, highlighting reach, engagement, and outcomes.
- Feedback Loop: Collect feedback from the audience and stakeholders to refine strategies and improve content.
Internal Communication:
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with program teams to gather information, document activities, and identify stories to share.
- Content Training: Train staff on effective storytelling, media handling, and using digital tools for communication.
- Newsletter Coordination: Develop and distribute internal or external newsletters to keep stakeholders informed.
Key Skills and Qualifications
- Writing and Editing Skills: Ability to craft compelling, error-free content tailored to various platforms and audiences.
- Multimedia Expertise: Proficiency in graphic design, video editing, and using tools like Canva, Adobe Suite, or similar software.
- Digital Marketing Knowledge: Familiarity with SEO, social media algorithms, email marketing, and content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
- Storytelling Ability: Creativity in telling impactful stories that resonate with donors, partners, and the public.
- Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills to engage media, stakeholders, and beneficiaries.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to measure the effectiveness of campaigns and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Understanding of the Organisation’s target audience, beneficiaries, and stakeholders.

Salary
N270,000 / Month (Net)
