Job Location: Victoria Island, Lagos

Job Description
- We are seeking a qualified and experienced Safety Officer to join our team in the construction industry.
- The Safety Officer will ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, implement safety measures, and promote a safe workplace for large-scale building and road construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations, industry standards, and legal requirements (e.g., OSHA, local HSE laws).
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards and non-compliance.
Policy Implementation:
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments tailored to building and road construction.
- Update safety protocols as per project requirements and changing regulations.
Training and Awareness:
- Organize safety training and awareness programs for employees, contractors, and site workers.
- Demonstrate proper use of safety equipment and ensure availability.
Incident Management:
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and prepare detailed reports with root cause analysis.
- Develop and monitor corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate safety records, including inspection reports, risk assessments, and training logs.
- Report safety performance metrics to management.
Emergency Preparedness:
- Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures.
- Coordinate drills and simulations to ensure readiness.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with site managers, engineers, and subcontractors to integrate safety practices into daily operations.
- Act as a liaison with regulatory authorities during inspections or audits.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree / HND in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 - 5 years of experience in safety management within the construction industry.
- Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalents are highly preferred.
- Sound knowledge of local HSE regulations and international safety standards.
- Familiarity with safety management software and tools.

- Proficiency in report writing and documentation.
- Ability to train and influence diverse teams.
- Attention to detail and proactive mindset.
Working Conditions:
- Frequent visits to construction sites under varying weather and environmental conditions.
- May require extended hours or weekend work depending on project timelines.
Salary
N250,000 - N300,000 monthly.
