Job Description


  • We are seeking a qualified and experienced Safety Officer to join our team in the construction industry.
  • The Safety Officer will ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, implement safety measures, and promote a safe workplace for large-scale building and road construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations, industry standards, and legal requirements (e.g., OSHA, local HSE laws).
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards and non-compliance.

Policy Implementation:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments tailored to building and road construction.
  • Update safety protocols as per project requirements and changing regulations.

Training and Awareness:

  • Organize safety training and awareness programs for employees, contractors, and site workers.
  • Demonstrate proper use of safety equipment and ensure availability.

Incident Management:

  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and prepare detailed reports with root cause analysis.
  • Develop and monitor corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.

Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate safety records, including inspection reports, risk assessments, and training logs.
  • Report safety performance metrics to management.

Emergency Preparedness:

  • Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Coordinate drills and simulations to ensure readiness.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with site managers, engineers, and subcontractors to integrate safety practices into daily operations.
  • Act as a liaison with regulatory authorities during inspections or audits.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree / HND in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in safety management within the construction industry.
  • Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalents are highly preferred.
  • Sound knowledge of local HSE regulations and international safety standards.
  • Familiarity with safety management software and tools.

Working Conditions:

Salary
N250,000 - N300,000 monthly.
