Job Description


  • The company are currently looking for a Senior Technical Manager to develop, communicate, implement and review strategy for all technical activities in the company to ensure effective work results on site and facilities management, project management and the workshop functions. The position reports to the Country Managing Director.

The Key Responsibilities/Activities

  • Workshop Fleet Function (All vehicles and Forklifts)
  • Site/Facilities Management Function, including maintenance of the buildings and premises
  • Projects function, planning management, coordination and financial control of projects
  • Powder products production maintenance including the organization of the preventative maintenance of all the production equipment

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Good knowledge of of operating the production machines, TQM, factory operations , equipment maintenance, quality management, service level monitoring and business process and knowledge
  • This is a full expatriate role and preference will be given to candidates with experience of living and working in Nigeria.

Education & Experience

  • B.S.c/HND/M.S.c in an Engineering/technical discipline plus relevant professional qualifications
  • At least 10-12 years post graduation experience within technical operations and manufacturing, ideally with the FMCG, Food & Beverages sector

Job Title: Fieldbank Manager

Location: Ibadan
Recruitment Type: National (3-year renewable contract)
Responsibilities
Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:

  • To effectively and efficiently manage operations of the Genetic Resources Center (GRC) fieldbank including staff and resources;
  • To ensure the fieldbank follows best practice and in a modern fieldbank particularly in areas of barcoding, data management and mechanization;
  • To liaise with other units within IITA particularly breeders on the evaluation of germplasm;
  • To exist in the planning and implementation of collecting missions;
  • To undertake capacity development of NARS and other partners;
  • Assist in the development and implementation of research activities involving the fieldbank.
  • To manage the conservation and characterization of GRC clonal crops in the field particular cassava, yam and Musa to a high standards;
  • To assist in the achievement of GRC performance targets and to contribute to the development of GRC as a whole;
  • To liaise effectively with the in vitro Genebank of GRC;

Qualifications

  • M.Sc in Plant Science, Plant Genetics, Crop Production, Agronomy or related field with 5 years’ experience performing same role.

Competencies
The ideal candidate must have:

  • Good Communication skill;
  • Good field data collection and management skills
  • Good ability to speak more than one Nigeria language.
  • Good field research management skills
